Arrow Let's Compare numbers, NZ vs Zims

All right, I am officially sick of everyone, including Mashrafe Mortaza, “sissying” around and saying Zimbabwe is a better team than New Zealand. Let’s look at some numbers to compare our thoughts.

Let’s compare their overall records for past 5 years.

Be sure to take a look at the winning ratio. ^

Top 25 batsmen from past 5 years.

Top 25 bowlers from past 5 years.

**** Don't wanna sound like cricinfo S. Rajesh, but most of the runs scored by Zim teams are against associates.

Bottom line guys, we would not even be comparing if we didn't beat NZ 4-0 past series. We have one of the strongest BD team ever, have some self believe, work hard, victory will be ours!!!

No, buddy! It's the other way around. Zim < NZ. When our captain believe Zim > NZ, a thread is only a mere attempt to open everyones eyes.

Each match and series should be approached wtihan intention to win regardless of how tough the opponent is. If pen and paper dictated the better team then there would be no need to play out the game to begin with.

We have at least one victoy against all teams we've played (in ODIs) to know that on a given day if certain things fall into place we can come out the better team....well except Netherlands. We haven't beaten them yet.

Beating NZ 4-0 was an amazing accomplishment and should be treated as such. It should not be the reason to expect a bangla/white-wash of ZIM. What should be a reason is that we are a team on a high, we are a better team than them on pen and paper and we are at home and we have done it before AND we are capable of doing it.

As long as we are playing to win and approaching the match with confidence I can accept a loss or two or even the series. But it is unacceptable to start making excuses even before a ball has been bowled. Mash should take a page from McGrath (not just how to bowl) but always to expect a win.

We should have more belief in ourselves. We shouldn't put ourselves down and say well NZ didn't play well. Bottom line is we outplayed them the whole series. NZ in our conditions isn't very good but they are better then Zimbabwe. They have some world class players in their side which Zimbabwe don't have. Zimbabwe though is a gritty team and always put up a good fight against us so we should not be complacent. As long as our boys are consistent the whole series then we should see a 5-0, 4-1 result.

Top post. All I have expected from Mash is a fighting attitude, not a "macho" one

just because NZ are a better team than ZIM (loads better i might add) and we beat NZ 4-0, doesn't mean we will beat ZIM 4-0, or 5-0. thats why the game is played.

by the same token, India should have crushed this NZ side 3-0 by an innings every time...looks like they will win only 1 by an innings. thats why the game is played. due respect should be given to every opponent. that is why ashraful averages 23 against the big boys, and 23 against the minnows.

having said that, there is no reason a captain or or any member of the team, net bowlers included, should say "we don't care if its 3-2 or 5-0, as long as we win".

NZ are a much better team than Zim, I can't believe how everyone is saying they will be a bigger challenge than NZ. Thanks for the stats MarufH bhai, hopefully our think tank will realise that Zim are not a better team than NZ. No disrespect to Zim, but they are still a fair way away from being compared to NZ.
