Default Realistic hopes for the World Cup '11.

Well, QF should be the minimum target. 2 wins against the associates, 1 against the big boys ( mst probably WI or SA) gona do it. In the QFs, well, i don't really fancy facing Aus or SL. Bt against kiwis or pakis . . . .we might have a great chance. Semi Finals. . . I would say, a very realistic target, with a little help from Lady luck. Any thoughts??

Only sissies target anything less than the championship. If anyone in the team doesn't want to win, they should let the management know so that their sorry buttocks can be kicked off the team while there's still time. Unfortunately, the management is also made up of a bunch of pretty unicorns.

You'll never win if you don't hope to win. That's been our problem ever since we started playing cricket. No one really wants to win. I say screw those infidels!

This WC has a bigger stage group, unlike the last one, so it would be tough. But we should win the matches that we are expected to. Win against WI, Neth and Irl. We already lost to those Asso. so they already had their fair-share. I am glad that they got that out of the way. I hope we put up a good fight vs India in the 1st match. That will set the tune for rest of the event. And we shall take it from there. No need to look ahead of ourselves.

Our selectors don't have the right mindset and neither do our players or the management. From a player's POV, there's no reason why he couldn't be close to as good as his peers, unless his peer is Ponting or Tendulkar. The point is, if you're a batsman, your job is to score runs consistently and if you're not willing to do what it takes, you shouldn't have a job. Same with the bowlers and wickets.

Unfortunately, our players don't have the urge nor the desire to be the best they can. Shakib and Tamim are talented, yes, but at this level everyone has some talent. There's no reason why the others can't work on their game to come close to if not be at the same level that these guys are at. No reason other than the fact that they are losers who are happy with sitting on their buttocks and making the modest money that they make.

They're all sissies, sissies who lose to Ireland and the Netherlands. Winning against New Zealand isn't an excuse - they need to be *whipped* until we get the world cup.

Hoping for the team to go all the way but I will extremely disappointed if we do not make it to the QF at the very least.

Goal is to win every match. That means if opponent scores 300+ you come out with intention to beat that score, not pad your stats or go for a shommanjonok porajoy.

I would much rather take ZIM's defeat to SA today instead of that embarassment we had against PAK earlier this year.

Wins vs. NED, IRE and WI is a must. We are ranked alongside the Windies now and there is not G8 factor about them we need to be afraid of. Anything short of the QF should be considered an embarassing failure.... unless we score 240 each match with a few centuries here and there. In that case 6 straight losses in the group stages is acceptable.

From the whitewash, I raise the bar of my expectation: Bring the WC cup home. Yes, you can, tigers.

not making the QFs will be a huge disappointment. making 2nd round in 2007 was a bit of a surprise (one which we all anticipated, haha) but a surprise nonetheless.

The India game is 50-50...india are a tough team who will be sure not to slip up AGAIN. but, in our favor is emotion. home game, WC opener, the disrespect, etc all point to our favor. Indians may not think much of us, but we like to play well against them. I can tell you this match is already being thought about by the boys. their weak bowling + tamim and shakib getting into the act means that we can win this match. if we bowl in teh right areas, even their vaunted lineup can be contained as we saw in 2007.

WI - this game should be penciled in as a win. but we will have to work hard.

SA and ENG - definitely we can win, but Morgan will stand in the way. we need absolute dust bowls for these teams.

IRE/NED - they must be destroyed like the minnows they are.

we should definitely target to win 4 games...3 games and we may not qualify depending on net run rates. 4 wins and we should be safe.

ATMR for president!

Quarter finals is possble but is still hard. It's not easy to beat windies, they have decent pace attack and the best big hitters around. Associates should be thrashed.

I only see 3 wins here, Ire, Neth, and the WI, will be tough to beat the other teams.

Only 4 teams can be in the QF, my prediction is India, Australia, South Africa and Sri Lanka.I will also not rule out England.
Against these great teams, one has to face the grim reality that BD needs a lot of luck, hard work and determination to get a QF place.
