A club will be able to register a maximum of three players from the 22-member national pool and Mohammedan Sporting Club are all set to rope in the world's No 1 all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan from bitter rivals Abahani in their attempt to retain the title in the 50-over competition.

The Motijheel outfit also retained the services of dashing opener Tamim Iqbal, who missed almost the entire season last time due to injury, and seasoned campaigner Faisal Hossain to fill up the quota. Top-order batsman Nazimuddin, pacer Tareq Aziz Khan, left-arm spinner Enamul Haque and promising leg-spinner Noor Hossain are also likely to join Mohammedan for this season.

Last year's runners-up Bangladesh Biman are going to make a balanced squad as they all but confirmed the services of pacer Shafiul Islam, middle-order batsman Jahirul Islam and wicketkeeper-batsman Mushfiqur Rahim to complete the pool quota. Abhishek Mitra, in-form Tushar Imran, Musharraf Rubel and Elias Sunny are all set to continue their stint with the national flag carrier with pacer Dollar Mahmud set to join them.

Abahani, in their attempt to regain the title, reportedly confirmed all-rounder Mahmudullah Riyad to fill the vacuum left by the departure of Shakib and also kept the inspirational Mashrafe Bin Mortaza and opener Imrul Kayes.

Marshal Ayub, Anamul Haque Bijoy, Saqlain Sajib, Mahbubul Alam Robin and Tapash Baishya may join the Dhanmondi-based outfit, but they are going to miss vital players like all-rounder Nasir Hossain, who is all set to join Gazi Tank, Arafat Sunny and Nadif Chowdhury.

Former national skipper Mohammad Ashraful, who has been struggling to get a team this season after Mohammedan decided not to retain him following his dismal showing last season, is likely to join Cricket Coaching School (CCS).

^Aftab's one is a real shocker. And we still don't respect our pace bowlers. Kapali may or maynot be worth the money, we have to wait & see.

Muted opening to transfer
The Daily Star - link

The two-day bourse of the Premier Division Cricket League began at the Bangabandhu National Stadium yesterday, without much excitement.
One of domestic cricket's biggest ceremony lost its enthusiasm and turned business-like as the country's two most popular outfits, Mohammedan and Abahani, decided to complete their deals on the final day.
Last year's runners-up Bangladesh Biman however made their presence felt on the opening day bringing in their old boys Mushfiqur Rahim, Jahirul Islam, Shafiul Islam and Mosharraf Rubel along with new inclusions Dollar Mahmud and Monwar Hossain, all attired in their new kit.
The national cricketers, who came on the first day to put pen to paper for their respective clubs, however echoed with the sentiment that the transfers might have lost its charm but the much coveted domestic competition is still as important as it had earlier been for the leading and upcoming players.
"I can still remember what an exciting affair it was in the first two seasons of my career but gradually it has lost it zeal. The drama and excitement is definitely missing but whatever the fact is, the competition is still important for any cricketer and everybody feels pressure when they play for any club," said left-arm spinner Abdur Razzak, who along with national all-rounder Sohrawardi Shuvo appeared on the first day to sign for Surjo Torun Club from Gazi Tank.
"I think it's a good platform for the cricketers to prove their worth. One can draw the attention of the selectors by playing good cricket in the Premier League and I believe everybody is eagerly waiting for this competition," opined Shuvo.
It was former national skipper Mohammad Ashraful who hogged the spotlight on the day when he came to sign for Cricket Coaching School (CCS). The experienced cricketer, who played for defending champions Mohammedan last season, believed that this year's league will be an important competition for the top players ahead of next year's World Cup.
"I think my poor form with the bat in the international cricket has hit me hard this season but I am not ready to say that it's a demotion for me. I'm looking forward to playing with the young players," said Ashraful, who has struggled to get a team this season after Mohammedan decided not to retain him following his dismal showing last season.
"It is a very important competition for everybody, especially ahead of the World Cup," he added.
"For players like us who are out of favour, it is very much important. I want to score as much as possible so that I can revive my international career," said Aftab Ahmed, who joined Old DOHS from Mohammedan.
Mushfiqur said that the national players are very much focused on the Premier League. "I heard a lot about the excitement of the players' transfer and definitely our generation is missing that flavour. But we are really focused on the competition because for any professional cricketer, any competition is important. I must pay back if I take even one taka from any authority," said Mushfiqur, the wicketkeeper-batsman.
Besides Biman, Surjo Torun, CCS, Victoria Sporting Club, Old DOHS, Kalabagan Krira Chakra, Orient Sporting Club and newcomers Prime Dhaleswar also took part in the first day bourse.
Abahani registered pacer Abul Hasan, who played for Old DOHS in 2008-09, as their only registration on the day.

Default Abul Hasan Raju - Good Pick

That's a very good collection by Abahani.
Although i don't support abahani, i want abul hasan to prosper
... he is a HUGE propspect not only as a specialist bowler,
also as a good bat down the order.

Best of Luck Raju!!!

Just wondering, how much of the DPL will the national players miss? if they aren't miss much, and still Alok is receiving more than thrice the money Rubel is receiving, then we need to give every pacer a "shonar balti" to encourage more pacers to prosper.

Default CCS - the team to watch

Including the fallen star Ashraful, their collection seems very rich:

Ashraful
Shubhagoto
Amit Mazumder
Saikat Ali
Tasamul Haque
Biswanath Haldar
Abul Bashar
Robiul

Tasamul is also a very good prospect with the bat. Played well in the u-19 wc

This POOL system is destroying our pace bowling department.
Apart from a top few, there is hardly any one ...
It's going to be harder in future to encourage kids to take up fast bowling.

50-over Premier League first

The Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolis (CCDM) has decided yesterday to postpone the Premier League Twenty20 tournament.

CCDM chairman GS Hasan Tamim confirmed yesterday that the event will probably be held later, making way for the 50-over competition which is slated to begin on December 8 or 10.

Tamim gave three reasons for the postponement, saying, "If the Twenty20 tournament doesn't take place at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium, it will lose its appeal. The clubs obviously want the exposure and if we play in smaller venues, it won't happen."

He also added that the absence of the national players, who will be busy with the Zimbabwe series, and the fact that the Super Six stage of the 50-over competition will be pushed back further are factors that influenced the decision.

Sabbir rahman 1st caught eyes with his bowling but hardly bowls now-a-days
Raihanuddin arafat
tanvir haider
.... none really prospered
sohag gazi is another one to look for.... but haven't heard a lot abt him.

Noor hossain is one whom i wanted to leap-frog before world cup.... but that is too much optimism, i admit.

wish him all the best in this season.
