Mr. Kamal's cricket decentralization in action
Barishal skipper SN's interview on PA highlights how lousily BCB is run:
http://www.prothom-alo.com/detail/da...13/news/108784
Key points:
Barishal as a first class entity does not even have a proper grounds for cricket.
The one gym they have, the local cricketers fixed out of their own pockets
Rabbi, Kamrul - leading run scorer and leading wicket taker have been nurtured in Barishal
Even now there's no formal development plan or funding program. The players are trying do something ad hoc with the Mayor and money from Dhaka league.

Well i think Barishal have always been under performing (not great) so it was ignored. However, the way they have played this season, its evident that there are lots of talents at this region. I would expect some steps by BCB (not that i am not aware how great BCB is!)

Well, for that matter, BCB don't have any infrastructure to groom cricketers outside Dhaka, except for a stadium here and a stadium there. Cricket in places such as Rajshahi, Chittagong, and Khulna is thriving because of local organizers and coaches.
BTW, only Fazle Rabbi is the true wildflower from Barisal. Others, ie Kamrul, Sohag, and Asif are groomed through age-group cricket.

Same goes for Sylhet. Rajin created a cricket academy with money out of his own pocket. He is one of the coach along with Enam Jr. These guys want to good things for the our cricket but how long can they go on with putting their money into it. Even if BCB helped them a little financially they can do so much. They want to help the younger generations but they cant do much without BCBs help.

We shouldn't use the term 'stadium' loosely IM0. Even the so called Dhanmondi stadium didn't have a gallery not so long ago. And these 'stadiums' are even used as cattle market during Eid ul Azha.

Well, I have never been to this part of Bangladesh. But from Google, Barisal Stadium does seem to be a fairly big one with good sitting capacity.

^^ Thanks for the pic.
Barishal ground seems to have a good prospect. Sitting on the banks of the Kirtonkhola River, you could easily turn it out to a very decent stadium with a panoramic view.
Meh, only in papers.
