Congratulations Mortaza.
Great call to retire from T20s and let the next generation take over. His days in international cricket are numbered with the fitness issues he has. Only adds to his legacy as a quality leader of BD cricket by timing his retirement appropriately. Well done.

Mashrafe Mortaza has announced his retirement from T20Is
Good decision by Mashrafe to prolong his ODI career. He always puts BDs interest above him, what a class and honest player. So what's next? Who should be captain? Mahmudullah?

Out first captain to call it a day on his own terms - in any format. Indeed this sets the precedence for others to follow.
Hats off to Narail express. May you, your family remain humble.

Now pls retire from the Odis too and save us from the torture of watching a tired, weak and lifeless captain on the field.

T20 was never his strong format but he was still a leader and an inspiration for any new player coming into the team.

It probably is the server, I don't know the type of server BC is hosted in but I am guessing that if it is hosted in a VPS or a dedicated server it would be a hell lot faster, but it's not cheap as well. I have no idea about the database used as well, but I have a feeling it does not handle a lot of concurrent requests well, there are ways to optimize it, SQL server is the best database server in my opinion, but I highly doubt it is used in this case. Yah, hard to say what will improve this site, but the way I would go about it is (if I have money), take a backup of the whole database, move it to a new hosting server, start testing a test site there, if the site is not faster, consider upgrading the forum software as well (there are many that we can use).
I know Zunaid bhai is running the site, wonder where he is! Yah, the site is excruciatingly slow during match days, will get slower if nothing done btw.

Checked the source code of the site, it seems BC is using VB Bulletin 3.8.7. There are some known issues, one of them I found is:

I remember a while ago I came across the same problem, I found out that PHP never cleaned the PHP session folder of old files. At some point it contained over 2.5 MILLION session files which made the site extremely slow.
You should take a look at the folder where PHP is saving the session files and see if PHP is correctly garbage cleaning the folder.
If that's also not the case, you may want to consider paying someone to look into it. It's really hard for us to figure out what's going on without having access to the server.
|
I read also that upgrading doesn't help with the speed btw, is the database on the same server?

Mash retires from T20i
Good bye Mash, the Norail Express, from T20i. You never played for yourself but for Bangladesh. You might not have achieved enough in T20's due to your numerous injuries and surgeries; but you definitely were a class leader.
I hope that you continue play with same attitude in ODI's and retire with same dignity when you feel like.

U can love him as much as u want, but don't expect the same thing from everyone else.
If u want to respond to my post, then post something relevant to the post instead of spouting utter rubbish.
Mashrafe has been a great servant for Bangladesh cricket and I admire him for that. But that doesn't mean he should get a free pass. No team would've picked a player like him with such poor fitness level.

Actually it's u who've been living under a rock, otherwise u would've known the truth and understood my point. But since u were under a rock and don't know the reality u decided to throw a hissy fit at my post.
Ppl tend to overrate mash's captaincy. He's easily replaceable. We shouldn't deny the fact that his captaincy has been pretty mediocre in this series so far.
The one of the many good things that will come out of his retirement is that we won't have to watch someone to field in cover region who's struggling to even walk on the field let alone bending and diving around to stop the ball.
