BC Chess Tournament
Hi everyone,I created a BC Chess Tournament in Chess.com.If you don't have a chess.com account and you would like to join the tournament then please sign up. Registration is free. After you sign up,write "I signed up" or something like that in this thread or send me a BC PM and I'll send you an invitation to join the tournament using the Chess.com PM after the deadline ends.Depending on how many people sign up,we might have to do multiple groups. I'm setting up a deadline for sign ups and its August 13th at 00:00 GMT.The rules are...you have 3 days to make a move or you lose by time, all games will be rated, meaning it will affect your rating points, and each group will have a maximum of 5 people.Oh and please don't ask others for help or accept offers for help. That won't be fair to others.
Sign ups...

What are the tournament rules? Are these one minute speed chess? or no time limit? Is it possible to post the games moves here? Some of us can enjoy the game proceedings then on our own.
There are some pretty good chess players here at BC. Making the top five list would be difficult.

I don't think you will find players here to play that type of games. Five day test match is enough, two/three weeks for a game is just not a game. Just think how long a tournament will be. few years?? (If you have 10/15 players. lol.)
I can't access chess.com from work (blocked). So what I meant by posting the moves is a copy paste of the entire game once it is over.

So you could save a game and come back to it? I thought you mentioned no "vacations" during games.

No prize money AND you could go on for weeks? Khelum na, khelum na!
The max I'm willing to spend for a free game of chess is 16 hours.

kind of.Its like playing 6 or 8 games at the same time and you have 5 minutes to make a move for each game (you can make that move in 1 minute or 2)except in chess.com you have 5 days and if you convert it,just like the example, you have 5 days to make your move but you can make it in 1,2 or 3 days.It depends on you and your opponent.

This is correspondence chess. You make a move you wait for the other person to move and that you make move - depending ont he rules some of these games can take up to weeks if not months and all the games are stored in the server and you can always go back to those games and resume from where you left off. Ussually each player plays dozens of games simultaneously so you are likely to have games going all the time.
May I suggest a better alternative?
FICS is a free a chess server. You can login using a free interface like babachess.
The games are real time and you chat while playing. You have a wide range of time limit option from 1 min per game to 1 hour per game depending your taste and you can have ratings too. Not sure if you can make a "group" like BC chess group.
Anyways I just created a new account and if anyone is interested to play you can drop by. My account is "BlahBC" - if you are going to create a new account you create it with the "BC" so that others can know if you are from BC.
You can also create a "BC" channel, I will see if I can do it.
