i know, but i don't know why. i really think tareq/alamgir are not good enough even for the 18 player squad, let alone 11. and the 3 day match showed even more how useless they are. this is just dumb. we can even change the cap'n or his deputy for rana/faisal.

i just read the news on bangladesherkhela.com and surprised to see that, the report is a total crap. it says 3 pacers, taposh, tareq and monju. where the hell is monju coming from, he is not even in the squad? also, when they said 12 player team, they named 13 and went like " these 6 batsmen..." they named seven.

so, i'll say, these squad is at best, VUA.

This is how the team will look tomorrow...

Javed Omar
Hannan Sarkar
Habib-ul-Bashar
Rajin Saleh
Mohammad Ashraf
Faisal Hussain
Manzur Rana
Mushfiq-ur-Rahman
Khaled Masud
Mohammad Rafique
Tapash Baisya

but this is what i would like to see...

Javed Omar
Hannan Sarkar
Habib-ul-Bashar
Rajin Saleh
Mohammad Ashraf
Faisal Hussain
Khaled Masud
Mohammad Rafique
Tapash Baisya
Tareq Aziz
Enam-ul-Haq

i have basically replaced Rana and Mushfiq with Tareq and Enam. Test cricket is a game of specialists and we have six specialist batsmen. nonetheless, whatmore will go for rana and mushfiq because of their multi faceted skills. This is in effect a defensive move on our part but what other choice do we have playing Lara & Co in the West Indies with very limited firepower in either discipline. moreover, i don't know if the selectors are willing to gamble with either tareq or enam.

There is a famuous Bangladeshi KOTHA that seems appropriate here.
"Mushfiq/Tarek will be swept away in Sir Lara's urine."
Lets be a bit more Fair to Mushfiq/Tareq.. shall we? Lets say it like this...
"If 'Sir Lara' happens to be in mood(not saying form, because his performance probably depends more on his mood than his form) Mushfiq/Tareq/Rana/Tapash or Ash/Rajin(they may bowl as change bowlers).... are all gonna be swept away in his urine!"

Rafiq is perhaps the only 'guy' who will stand high on that pitch! Lets not focuss all the ill's only on Mushfiq/Tareq.

And Also...

*Tareq Gets wickets. Maybe he is being underestimated.
*WI will make the pitch Pace-favored... that's obvious!
*Faisal Deserves a place because the team is really suffering from lack of batting strength(do not confuse Faisal with Rana, because Faisal is probably a better choice than Rana in batting)
*Rana stays out of one match, doesn't mean he is Cut-Off from the team. Capable players do stay out due to match-to-match conditions.

Rana will not be playing the 1st test, Faisal will be in the X1.

The team management confirmed it today.

The final eleven for the first test against WI:
1. Hannan Sarkar
2. Javed Omar Belim
3. Habibul Bashar
4. Rajin Saleh
5. Mohammed Ashraful
6. Faisal Hossain Dickens
7. Mushfiqur Rahman
8. Khaled Mashud
9. Mohammed Rafique
10. Tareque Aziz
11. Tapash Baisya

After inspecting the pitch and a long discussion, the think tank decided to go for 6 batsmen as Rana will be in side bench for Mushfique Babu. I am satisfied with the selection.

Pretty strong batting line-up on paper. expect a lot of rajin and ashraful with the ball as the second and thrid spinning option.

Taking Rana out is insane. He could have taken 2/3 wickets or added 25-30 valuable runs for sure.

Javed will give nothing more than 10 runs in 2 innings. He will get out fast and create huge pressure on the middle order, prompmting some potential batting collapse. I dont know why Dave cant see this coming....Javed is an experienced batsman, but he is just NOT in form.

I was expecting a team like --

1. Faisal Hossain Dickens
2. Manjarul Islam Rana
3. Hannan Sarkar
4. Habibul Bashar
5. Rajin Saleh
6. Mohammed Ashraful
7. Mushfiqur Rahman
8. Khaled Mashud
9. Mohammed Rafique
10. Tareque Aziz
11. Tapash Baisya

Reason:
1. None of our "so far established" batsman can play fast bowl.
2. Both 1&2 have opening experience and all our experiment with other pairs so far have failed.
3. There are more to write but pretty sure you all will also find those reasonings.

Faisal is actually a middle order batsman & he yet to play as an opener.

Ashtanshi is right. Faisal might not have openning experience, but will not struggle as much as Javed in the first few overs and have better potential. Lets not forget how Javed struggled in Australia. Javed might do well in the subcontinent pitches, but not in WI. He has been proving me right already.

I do wish Javed play well, and hope that he can build up a solid partnership, so that our middle order can play their natural games. Our batsmen tend to do well when they are not in pressure, so a good openning partnership is the most important and will set up the tone for the rest of the batting. My observation is if you must play Javed, let him play in the middle order.

Until BD openers can last more than five overs, they don't have a prayer. How can a team bat with confidence when their openers consistently break like straw? Can no one on this team step up and bat consistently?

That being said, good luck to Bangladesh. I admire your passion.
