SA blame 'lengthy schedule' for Cup exit
After blaming their long stay in rainy Guyana for their poor showing against Bangladesh, Smiffy and Arthur have now blamed the lengthy WC schedule for their dismal showing against OZ.
Quote:
South Africa coach Mickey Arthur says the lengthy World Cup schedule must take some blame for his team's failure to reach the World Cup final.
"During this tournament we were a bit off the boil, with some really fantastic performances coupled with some very average ones," he said.
"Not looking for excuses but the length of the tournament and the time between games didn't allow us to get momentum.
"After the game against England we were ready to play two days later."

I guess the Saffas aren't used to being in a WC for this long eh - they're normally out a bit before this.

Hmmm......
Sri Lanka and Australia started from the super eights stage and that's why they are performing.
Very bad. Next time South Africa should start from semi-final stage.

Can we tailor make a tournament so that teams like SA can win a cup and India can go to S8

I think they did tailor made the event so India could go to super 8. Our 18 year old 'variable's just messed up their calculations.

(Sour grapes) bad WC reasonings:
1. Fans (low attendance WI)
2. Schedule (Too long SA and some other folks too)
3. Format (India We need more games to qualify for the super eight)
4. Pitch (Pakistan. They changed the pitch on us and again changed it before Ireland went to bat)
5. Grouping (Zimbabwe, Holland)
6. NZ (Toss vs SL semis)
7. Timing (rain Scotland vs SA group match)
8. Foreign players (Canada all group matches)

Funny how these excuses just roll off the tongue only when the team fails. If SA won yesterday, Mickey "the Mouse" Arthur's post match rant would have sounded something like this:
"We are all professionals, here to do a job. Things like the length of the tournament and the nature of the pitch doesn't bother us. Thats why its the World Cup. The conditions are the same for every team, the team who handles adversities the best deserves to be in the finals. We backed ourselves all the way."

I can write this in paper SA not winning the next WC in Asia. That means they have to wait to win it in 2015! I am sorry but this is the reality.
The quota system is just ruining their chances. Thay need to pick the player who does well and who got the talent. Remember players like Petersen, Rudolph have already left SA for this discrimination. This is just pathetic.

yes, their weakness against spin and the toothlessness of their one dimensional bowling on a pitch that is only slightly slow was brutally exposed in the match against bangladesh. so winning the cup in 2011 is out of the question.
about the quota system, it's very very racist. they might have come out of apartheid, but now they've introduced racism against white people to their cricket. KP did well to leave in his early days.
