শ্রীলঙ্কা সফরের বাকি অংশে মাশরাফির যাওয়ার সম্ভাবনা ক্ষীণ। বাঁ পায়ের ব্যথা এখনো এতটাই বেশি, অনুশীলনে দৌড়াদৌড়ি করতে পারলেও পারছেন না বোলিং করতে। গোড়ালিতে একটু চাপ পড়লেই প্রচণ্ড ব্যথা হচ্ছে। মাশরাফির ভাষায়, ‘বোলিংয়ের সময় হিলে চাপ পড়লে কারেন্টের মতো বাড়ি দিচ্ছে।’ দু-তিন দিন আগে করা এমআরআই স্ক্যানের পর তাই চিকিৎসকেরা বিশ্রামই দিয়ে দিয়েছেন মাশরাফিকে। বিসিবির চিকিৎসক মনিরুল আমিন অবশ্য আশাবাদী, ‘এই ইনজুরিটাকে বলে ফ্যাট প্যাড কন্টিউশন। এসব ইনজুরি ভালো হতে ২১ দিন লাগে। ১৭ দিনের মতো হয়েছে। আশা করি, বাকি কয় দিনের মধ্যে ও সুস্থ হয়ে উঠবে।’ কিন্তু আশাবাদী নন জাতীয় দলের ফিজিও বিভব সিং। শ্রীলঙ্কায় দলের সঙ্গে থাকা বিভব চোটের ব্যাপারে বিস্তারিত জেনে কাল প্রধান নির্বাচক আকরাম খানকে ই-মেইলে জানিয়েছেন, ২৩ মার্চ ওয়ানডে সিরিজ শুরুর আগে মাশরাফির সুস্থ হওয়ার সম্ভাবনা খুবই কম। চোটে পড়ার ১৭ দিন পরও ব্যথাটা যে মাত্রার, আশা ছেড়ে দিয়েছেন মাশরাফি নিজেও, ‘এখন যা অবস্থা, বলতে পারেন আমি আশা ছেড়েই দিয়েছি। মিরাকল কিছু না ঘটলে শ্রীলঙ্কা যাওয়ার সম্ভাবনা নেই।’ শুধু গোড়ালিতে নয়, ছোটখাটো একটা চোট আছে মাশরাফির একই পায়ের কনিষ্ঠ আঙুলেও।
ফিজিওর ই-মেইল পেয়ে যারপরনাই হতাশ প্রধান নির্বাচক আকরাম খান। মাশরাফিকে শ্রীলঙ্কা সফরে পাচ্ছেন না বলেই ধরে নিয়েছেন তিনি, ‘ইনজুরি নিয়ে কেউ দলকে সার্ভিস দিতে পারে না। তা ছাড়া এভাবে খেলা খেলোয়াড়ের জন্যও ঝুঁকিপূর্ণ। কাজেই কারও ইনজুরি থাকলে আমরা তাঁকে দলে নেব না। ফিজিওর ই-মেইল পড়ে মনে হচ্ছে মাশরাফির পক্ষে শ্রীলঙ্কা যাওয়া সম্ভব হবে না। সে ক্ষেত্রে আমরা বিকল্প কাউকে নেব।’

ওদিকে ওয়ানডে আর টি-টোয়েন্টি সিরিজের জন্য টেস্ট দলের বাইরে থাকাদের নিয়ে একাডেমির কোচ রিচার্ড ম্যাকিন্স অনুশীলন চালালেও সেখানে নাকি আসছেন না অনেক খেলোয়াড়ই। প্রধান নির্বাচক ক্ষুব্ধ সেটা নিয়েও।

Razzak isn't the worst selection, I'd have preferred Sajib or Mosharraf though. Probably Mosharraf due to his experience. Either way, Razzak shouldn't leak runs as Sunny did.

Although Razzaq won't give away runs like Sunny did but Rubel or Sajib was better option than Razzaq.

Good to see Razzak coming in. It gives the think tank something to think about. He did lead the NCL charts in wickets so it might be a better idea giving him a chance over Sunny

I think Razzak is a good selection. He is more experienced than Sajib I mean in terms of cricketing career. So the experience will come handy I guess. Our bowling department looks so poor that I don't think we can afford to gamble by including another debutant. I know Razzak's test bowling is not as good as his one day but still I think we can have some faith on him.

Recently I've seen Razzak being more attacking and clever than before. So I think it's time to give him a chance once again for Tests. After all he's played a big part in most of our wins against the G8 teams.

Yeah exactly !!! He did extremely well in the NCL. I mean as far as my memory goes he was among the top wicket takers in all the domestic leagues since last year. So he definitely should get a chance. But how I wished to see Enam Jr to play this series. Oh well hopefully everything happens for good just like how Shakib and Tamim's absence always proves to be a blessing in disguise . Love these boys !!!

Mushfiqur sets new benchmarks
"You would want to lead with runs and wickets, as a captain," Mushfiqur said. "I am happy but the happiness is just not for myself. Nasir, Ashraful and Mominul did very well, so credit goes to them too.

Mushfiqur was the wicketkeeper who displaced Khaled Mashud, the crisis man during Bangladesh's early days as a Test nation and a popular figure in the country. How he transformed from accidental villain to exemplary figure in six years is worth a closer look.


It wasn't just hard work, but also how he carried himself that made a world of difference. Though a strict disciplinarian in his personal life, Mushfiqur never tried to impose his personal traits on his team-mates. But as leaders hope, the younger players are, unwittingly or otherwise, adopting their way of thinking - that the only path to runs, wickets and wins is hard work and focus.

মাশরাফি-শফিউলকে নিয়ে অনিশ্চয়তায় বিকল্প পেসার হিসেবে নির্বাচকদের চিন্তায় ভালোভাবেই ঠাঁই পাচ্ছেন নাজমুল হোসেন। নাজমুলের হাঁটুতে সমস্যা আছে এবং পুরোপুরি চোটমুক্ত হতে অস্ত্রোপচারই একমাত্র উপায়। তবে আপাতত বড় কোনো সমস্যা না থাকায় এই চোট নিয়েও খেলা চালিয়ে যেতে পারবেন তিনি। নির্বাচকেরা জানতে চেয়েছেন তাসকিন আহমেদের ফিটনেস সম্পর্কেও। কিন্তু অল্প বয়সেই অনেক চাপ নিয়ে ফেলেছে তরুণ এই পেসারের হাঁটু। তাই তাসকিনের ওপর এখনই বাড়তি চাপ না দেওয়ার নাকি পরামর্শ গেছে বিসিবির মেডিকেল রুম থেকে।

Mash is pretty much out. And ppl, now you know Why Nazmul often gets left out. He needs an operation, until then he will be out and in due to knee injury Why isn't BCB sending him to Aus to get his operation done when he is not getting picked anyway???

Taskin may not make it due to injury either
