TEHRAN, Iran - Followers of Iranian state TV say the Academy Award-winning film "A Separation" shows the world-class talent and sophistication in the Islamic Republic even as it confronts the West over its nuclear program.

***Capping off an incredible season that included BAFTA, SAG and Golden Globe wins for Best Supporting Actor, 82-year-old Canadian thespian Christopher Plummer took home his first ever Academy Award Sunday night for his role in "Beginners," becoming the oldest person to ever win the award. The actor received a standing ovation as he took the Oscar stage, sporting his Order of Canada pin on his lapel.

This win creates some sanguine curiosity, or a conspiracy theory in a crude term, in some readers/observers minds.

Will it be:

1. A good political gesture between the two fighting powers?
2. A political and inter-relational set-back for Israel on her venture to Washington?
3. A political conspiracy?
4. A catalyst to melt the Iceberg of relentless suspecion and hatred between the snake and the goose?
5. A pure source of thoughts to the conspiracy theorists?
6. A simple artistic win disappointing all the theorists?
7. A turning point for Iran to open her door more often to the liberals?
8. A turning point for a geo-political change/impact between the two friendly countries - Iran and bleeding Syria?
9. A catalyst to change the cultural attitudes in other ME countries in a positive way minimizing the religious bondage?
10. A turning point for the Westerners to change their attitude to Iran in terms of Human Rights and cultural freedom?

Only time can tell.

Umm... why? Just because it's ~97% silent?

Surely you've seen old Charlie Chaplin movies (BTV would air them often during special occasions) that are almost completely silent (e.g. Modern Times)? Did you get bored by them?

I was thoroughly entertained by The Artist (yes, the plot is predictable/unoriginal, but that's sort of the point...). I thought the lead actors were bloody brilliant (I found their portrayal of 20's/30's actors very believable). The humor, the romance, the tragedy - it was all "just right." I think it's impossible for any movie fan to not feel good after watching this movie.


It also reminded me of how many times I've watched Vertigo... instantly recognized the recycled soundtrack in The Artist!

I haven't seen The Artist yet. But I think Hugo also does a very good job at paying homage to old silent movies.

Dujardin, ei lok ke koto agey dekhtam,he is a good actor & comedian, he and his wife back then used to act in a TV comedy called "Un gars & une fille" jodio monojog diye kokhono dekhinai.
anyway,good actor well deserved , but no way,I ain't gonna watch this.
