Nafis seems to be pretty aggressive. Strike rate is quite good for 3 day match.

Default Good for Nafis

He needed that after not performing too well in the first match. As for the England bowling, the last match was their first time out to have a bowl in the sub-continent in this tour, and they got BCBP XII out for 57 and 140 odd. I don't think their coach or captain could have asked for much more from the bowlers.

However, Aftab is right in one sense. This team lacks a great bowler. Hoggard is very good, Harmison has the potential to be very good, Giles can be good at times, but none of them are great. None of them are in the Gough category. And definitely not in the McGrath, Lee, McGill category.

Don't tease us like that. We don't want the ones that have a weak heart to get all their hopes up high and ...

I think their batting is a bigger worry then their bowling. Same for us, however, our batting worry stems from our much talked about lack of patience and application.

Their batting is definitely a bigger worry for us than their bowling. If we can apply ourselves in the batting department, like Aftab did in the last match and Nafees is doing in this one, we can score runs against this English bowling line-up. But their batting is very strong, our bowlers will have to be very disciplined.

I'm really excited about Jubair playing. Can't wait to see how he does.

I am worried about Golla and Hannan though. More about Golla than Hannan. But this was just the one innings and hopefully he will be fine.

Default 12 a sides

what's with the 12 a sides - seems like a staple for touring sides - we had a few in Australia too. So that means these games are not first class - what do you guys think of the tradeoff.

hey rho, I bet you want to guarantee a duck by all the bangladeshis, don't you?

Default I think 12 a sides a good thing

We don't need these matches to be First Class. What difference does it make whether they are or not. But having an extra player gives you the opportunity to try out an extra players, which is what these matches are all about.

Seems like Rajin is content with playing second fiddle. Go caps go, I'd love to see you hit a ton. Same goes with Nafees.

Personally I think Golla's golla(0) is a blessing as he already fullfilled his quota for scoring golla(0). Now it's his turn to make some good score in the original test

Default Rho

your last few comments raised some questions about where you were coming from - glad to see I was wrong and you do have faith in at least a few of the players!

Looks like they have played out Hoggard's first spell VERY cautiously. I bet most of those balls were faced by Rajin.

This match must have started at 9:45 am Dhaka time. Can anyone confirm that? We have had this lunch score since about 11:45 Dhaka time. Why is CricInfo not covering these matches?

Its hard to understand why our top players are scoring so little in these warm up matches. Look at Hannan Sarkar in the first match and Javed Omar in this one...

HARMISON BOOSTS TEST CHANCES
By Myles Hodgson, PA Sport Cricket Correspondent, Dhaka

Steve Harmison enhanced his claims for a place in England's Test line-up next week with an excellent start in the tour match against Bangladesh A.

The Durham fast bowler claimed two early wickets in the final warm-up match at the Academy Ground.

He faces tough competition for a starting berth in the Test matches, with Richard Johnson and Matthew Hoggard also fighting for the two seamer roles after all three were named in today's line-up.

Harmison struck twice in six deliveries to leave Bangladesh A struggling and was the pick of England's attack after captain Michael Vaughan lost the toss and was forced to field.

Facing temperatures well into the 90s, England did not have to wait long to make a breakthrough with Harmison striking with the first ball of the sixth over when Javed Omar edged behind to wicketkeeper Chris Read off the back foot.

Aftab Ahmed followed six balls later when, after driving through mid-wicket to get off the mark with a boundary, he tried another expansive shot and instead edged to Rikki Clarke at second slip.

But the tourists' hopes of making further inroads were halted by opener Nafees Iqbal hitting an unbeaten 62 and forging an unbroken 72-run partnership with Rajin Saleh to get their side to 89 for two at lunch on the opening day.

England had earlier decided to overlook Kent's Martin Saggers and Mark Butcher who was ruled out with a throat infection, leaving wicketkeeper Geraint Jones as the only member of the 15-man squad yet to play.

Once again, the tourists have agreed with the opposition to use 12 players during the three-day encounter to give as many people as possible match practice.
