Rumours from Bangladesherkhela: Nafees & Aftab in ODI series vs Eng

BangladesherKhela reports that Nafees (today's Centurion) and Aftab (1st practice match's top scorer in both matches) might play for Bangladesh in the one day series against England.

Tomorrow a 13-member test squad will announced in the afternoon. The selection is almost completed.

There will be 6 specialist batsman, 2 all-rounders, 2 spinners and 3 pacers in the team. Wicket Keeper is Khaled Mashud, the 2 all-rounders are Khaled Mahmud and Mushfiqur Rahman, Rafique and Fahim are the 2 spinners, and Whatmore's first choice of pace bowlers are Mashrafee and Tapash, so Anwar Hossain Munir, Tareq Aziz and Alamgir Kabir will have to compete for the 3rd pacer's position.

I don't understand - if the team is already selected, then why play Mosaddek Hossain in the BD 'A' team - without even watching him how he bowls against England?

What if Mosaddek takes a 5-wicket-haul tomorrow? What happens then?

The BD v Eng first test will be over before the U-19 tournament. The ODIs don't start until the 7th. I think the consensus is BD needs one player from the U-19 in the squad for the open slot - either batsman or spinner (Aftab, Nafis, Enamul jr are prime candidates).

So the schedule analysis means the selectors have all options open to them:

1. have the U-19 player selected play inthe first test and then go to Pak - hectic but possible

2. Have the U-19 player withdraw from the U-19 team and play the full england series. I don't like this option for damage to the U-19 team as expressed in different thread. Also where the heck is Talha Jubair - teamless?

3. Have all U-19 players available for ODI series as long as BD U-19 don't play in the final on Nov 6th.

So, all options are available. let's wait and see what they do. They'll probably figure playing Mushfiq is the only option.

I seriously hope they don't play Mushfiq on tests. Sujon is more than enough we can handle.

if six batsman then one spinner or three pacers....now the question is two all rounders(seamer and batsman) Sujon and Mushfiq. I am not sure whom you prefer cuz its so unfair to just drop a batsman, pacers or all rounder from a game just by looking at a match or two. But we have to remember we playing for bangladesh..so if one gets dropped its nuthing bad ..instead the player who is chosen should work hard to prove his selection and player not chosen should not feel jealous rather should coperate the chosen one and with other members. If Musfiq plays may be Sujon has to go. If Sujon plays may be Musfiq has to go. This is not a competion between two individuals rather it's for our country for our dream, Bangladesh.
