Well, I hate to generalize, but very briefly, the few I've met consider themselves "British" and "Sylheti" (i.e. no identification with Bangladesh as a nation). Most of them have never visited any part of BD other than Sylhet, if at all. If it was called "Sylhet Cricket Team", they might actually show a slight bit of interest. I bet 9 out of 10 of them couldn't even name a single one of our international players.
I know it's gonna sound awful, and I'll get some flak for this... but when I'm around these guys, I feel like they don't consider us (non-Sylheti Bangladeshis) the same group of people as them (i.e. there's an "us" and "them" vibe from them, if you know what I mean).

well goru bhai i agree with you somewhat. well first of all I was in england for only 3 and half weeks, so that's not really a long enough time to get to know a place, and on top of that I was in london city only for a week. I think all of the stuff you said that's not true for the people that were born in Bangladesh and lived there for a few years and then moved to U.K.
sorry BK bhai for going off topic, maaf chai BK bhai.

3 kinds of Dhakaiyas:
1. Khusbah or Shukhbah: Originally Farsi and later Urdu speaking families.
2. Kutti: People from the greater Dhaka district (speaking vulgar Urdu/Bangla remix) who worked for Khusbahs.
3. Noya: People from other areas who have lived in Dhaka for at least 2-3 generations.

BK, I am with you. With the exception of Trolls, all foreign members gets the honorary citizenship from me.
Did anyone one of you had any host family in a foreign country? The love is genuine with the expectation of no return in any form and fashion.
