Habibul Bashar cuts ties with ICL

Habibul Bashar, the former Bangladesh captain, has informed the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) that he has severed all ties with the unauthorised ICL and would like to return to official cricket, according to a senior official. The BCB's doors are now open for other ICL cricketers from Bangladesh to return, Mohammed Jalal Yunus, BCB board member, said.

is he out of his mind! he knows he doesnt have any prospect internationally. I bet he is one of the ones that havent been paid by the ICL and that the ICL is planning to cut from their numbers - after his dismal performance in the ICL!

Lol! Bashar cuts ties ahead of Alok, Aftab, Nafees. Really bad move by HaBa but good in a sense that now everyone will follow since Bashar was their guru.

I was hoping Bashar, Rafique, Taposh, Shorif, Monju remained in the ICL so that we could have a second team to follow. Now it seems Dhaka Warriors is set to collapse.

I don't think its all about international cricket. He has good education. He can coach the acadamy or A-team. He can also become a part of the baord officials. He will get permanent job like Shujon and co. he is much better than them.

I just hope he gets respects from all around. He deserves this.

I Salute him for cutting all the ties with the rebel league.

bashar is very cleaver. he knew he won't get any more contract from ICL as he was the worst player in that team so he took the first chance to get back as he can play the local games and get his free tickets to the bd games... in the mean time he made some money...

i just hope he is somehow able to persuade the likes of aftab and Alok...may be also rubel, nazim and farhad....
the rest can be sacrificed....Bangladesh cricket don need tem.

I am thinking in the same lines.. as a former captain of BD his act did not help Bangladesh cricket. Hope he will work for BD cricket in good sense.

Bashar should join politics once his cricketing career is truely over.
First, he lures everyone to the banned league and now that he sees there is time to make amends, he quickly changes his jersey and comes back to the old outfit.

Probably BCB made deals with him. He gets back the players and BCB, in due time, gives him the proper farewell he would have deserved otherwise for his service to the national team.

At the end of the day, no body wants to be forgotten.

Not sure if the rest is "this" clever enough.

A very good move by Bashar. Now he should retire from international cricket with dignity. BCB should arrange a farewell party for him asap and take Bashar on board in different capacity to develop future cricketers.

Good move by Bashar. He has now opened doors for other opportunities e.g managing,coaching club sides.

So everyone would absolutely rule out a return to Test matches for Habibul? I say if he comes back to domestic cricket and plays well, he can make the team. Just like everyone else.

Obviously he can't just walk back into the team, he needs to have form behind him. But if he plays domestic cricket, then that can only be good for BD cricket. The other domestic players learn from him, and he puts pressure on the national team batsmen to perform because if he plays well - he might be in contention for one of their spots.

Age is against him, but he could potentially have another year or so left in him. For Bangladesh, you can't overlook a guy that averages 30. The only guy that even comes close to that is Shakib.

As some of you have said, this move only makes sense if he's looking to work of the board in the long run. Wouldn't be a bad idea to have an ex test captain get involved in some of the planning/management aspects of the game in the country.

I want Aftab back only for T20's, if he proves he's still better than the current crop (which he probably is). Nazimuddin would also make a nice addition to the T20 squad. But none of these is an ODI/test batsman.
