Can any1 pls explain why Shafiul is always selected ahead of Nazmul?After WC,Shafiul lost his control.Even in DPL,BPL Shafiul was very expensive.Nazmu l proved his worth everytime he gets selected.Still he is sidelined!

I just love how he wasn't at all nervous or rusty. It seemed like he was very regular in the XI/Squad.

I guess this is his normal, being over looked and being irregular.

That would keep Shafi away from the ODI side for a while now - and Rubel can obviously replace Shahadat when he's fit. The pace department looks far better now.

But if you look at Nazmul's ODI and first class record, its not very impressive at all. In fact its quite ordinary.

43 wickets in 37 ODIs at an average of 31.39 but more disappointingly he's only got 71 wickets in 33 first class matches. So he should not be in the test team. No way.

He's been in and out so many times. And over the last couple of years, he'd been been impressive in the ODIs every time he was drafted in (as a replacement to Mash/Rubel/Shafiul/Rajib.

Please check his ODI, test, and T20 record and compare with the other pacers who routinely play ahead of him. If he was given the opportunity, he could have been an even better bowler by now.

Nazmul is our 2nd best fast bowler in the team behind only Mash and he proved it again today. He's a very smart bowler and really disciplined. You rarely see a bad ball from him. Shafiul and Rubel may have the upside advantage ahead of Nazmul but they're still a few years away from being finished products and Shahadat's always going to be an inconsistent bowler. So Nazmul should be a regular for all forms of the game from now on.

you read my mind bro, I was wondring so badly that nazmul has two over in his hand and mushy still giving the ball to shahadat, who is already giving a lots of runs like 6+ but still he did not wanted to bowl the last two over off NAZ, our players n selector are so racist, he not getting the place in the final 11 becoz he is from sylhet, he has no chacha or mamu in bcb, or a relative who is part of the government, so forget about it no metter what he wont get permanant place in the( ACADOSH)

বিখ্যাত ইংরেজ কবি স্যামুয়েল টেলর কোলরেজের কবিতার অ্যালবাট্রস পাখিটি যেমন পথহারা সমুদ্রযাত্রীদের জন্য সৌভাগ্যের প্রতীক হয়ে এসেছিলেন, নাজমুল হোসেন নামের পেসারটিও বাংলাদেশ ক্রিকেট দলের জন্য প্রায়ই সৌভাগ্য বয়ে নিয়ে আসেন। বাংলাদেশের ক্রিকেট ইতিহাসের অন্যতম গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ম্যাচেও তিনি হাজির হয়েছিলেন ভাগ্যের ছোঁয়া নিয়ে। মাহেলা জয়াবর্ধনে, তিলেকারত্মে দিলশান, কুমার সাঙ্গাকারা_ শ্রীলংকার ব্যাটিংয়ের তিন তারকাই তার শিকার। শুরুতে তার ওই তিন উইকেটের জন্যই লংকান ইনিংস ২৩৩ রানে শেষ হয়। ৮ ওভারে ৩২ রানে ৩ উইকেট নিয়ে বাংলাদেশের বোলিং হিরো এ ডানহাতি পেসার।

অথচ অভিষেকের আট বছর পরও জাতীয় দলে জায়গাটা পাকা করতে পারেননি নাজমুল। এখনও আছেন আসা-যাওয়ার মধ্যেই। আসা-যাওয়ার ধরনটাও একটু কেমন যেন। নিয়মিত পেসারদের কেউ ইনজুরিতে পড়লে খেল, সুস্থ হলে আবার বাইরে চলে যাও। এর মাঝেই ৩৬টি ওয়ানডে খেলার সুযোগ পেয়েছেন হবিগঞ্জের এ তরুণ। আর তার খেলা ৩৭টির মধ্যে বাংলাদেশ জয় পেয়েছে ১৮টিতে। বাংলাদেশ দলের সদস্য হিসেবে মাঠে নেমে প্রায় অর্ধেকের মতো ম্যাচে জয়ের আনন্দ করতে পারাটা অবশ্য বিরল। এ জন্যই তো তিনি সৌভাগ্যের পাখি। প্রথম শ্রেণীর ক্রিকেট খেলার আগেই ২০০৪ সালের সেপ্টেম্বরে আন্তর্জাতিক ক্রিকেট খেলে ফেলেন তিনি। কিন্তু বিশাল সম্ভাবনা নিয়ে যাত্রা শুরু হলেও অল্প দিনের মধ্যেই দৃষ্টির আড়ালে চলে যান বিকেএসপির এই ছাত্র। শাহাদাত হোসেন, রুবেল হোসেন এবং শফিউল ইসলামের আগমনের পর তিনি তো বলতে গেলে বাতিলের খাতায়ই চলে যান। এই তিনজনের মধ্যে কমপক্ষে দু'জন ইনজুরিতে পড়লে তবেই মাঠে নামার সুযোগ আসে। এমনকি মাশরাফির লম্বা অনুপস্থিতির সময়ও কালে-ভদ্রে মাঠে নামার সুযোগ হতো। না হলে ২০০৪ সালে টেস্ট অভিষেক হওয়া ক্রিকেটার দ্বিতীয় টেস্ট খেলে ২০১১-এর ডিসেম্বরে!

ক্যারিয়ার শুরুর কিছু দিনের মধ্যেই তাকে ওয়ানডে বোলারের তকমা ঝুলিয়ে দেওয়া হয়। তার প্রসঙ্গ এলেই নির্বাচকরা বলতেন, একেবারে গতি নেই, শুধু সুইং দিয়ে কী চলে! কিন্তু গতকাল এ সুইং দিয়েই লংকানদের টপ অর্ডার গুঁড়িয়ে দেন। ২০০৯ সালে শ্রীলংকার বিপক্ষে ত্রিদেশীয় সিরিজের ফাইনালেও ৩০ রানে ৩ উইকেট নিয়েছিলেন এবং সে উইকেটগুলোও টপ অর্ডারেরই ছিল। গতকালের পারফরম্যান্সের পর বলতে হবে, লংকার টপ অর্ডারের দুঃস্বপ্নের নাম নাজমুল হোসেন।
এশিয়া কাপের দলে নাজমুলের সুযোগটা আসে মূলত স্ট্রাইক বোলার রুবেল হোসেন ইনজুরিতে। কিন্তু ১৫ জনের স্কোয়াডে জায়গা পেলেও মাঠে নামার সম্ভাবনা ছিল খুবই কম। কিন্তু ভারতের বিপক্ষে ফিল্ডিংয়ের সময় শফিউল কাঁধে চোট পেয়ে টুর্নামেন্ট থেকে ছিটকে গেলে একাদশে ঢোকার সুযোগ হয় নাজমুলের। শফিউল ছিটকে যাওয়ার পরও শঙ্কা দূর হচ্ছিল না তার। শ্রীলংকার বিপক্ষে ম্যাচের আগের দিন সন্ধ্যায়ও তিনি বলেন, 'আমি তো বসে থাকি কখন সুযোগ আসবে সে অপেক্ষায়। সুযোগ পেলেও আবার চাপে থাকি। মনের মধ্যে ভয় কাজ করে, ভালো করতে না পারলেই তো পরের ম্যাচে বাদ!' অবশ্য ভালো করলেও যে পরের ম্যাচে দলে থাকবেন এমন নিশ্চয়তা নাজমুলের বেলায় নেই।

সেই কবিতার পথ দেখানো অ্যালবাট্রস পাখিটিকে কিন্তু অকৃতজ্ঞের মতো গুলি করে মেরেছিলেন বুড়ো নাবিক। বাংলাদেশের ক্রিকেট কর্তারাও কী আশরাফুল-নাজমুলের মতো প্রতিভাদের মেরে ফেলছেন!
