39 runs off an over
Check this out:
Quote:
Dhaka, Jan 17 (bdnews24.com) - Paceman Nazmul Hossain Milon conceded 39 runs in an over in the match between Victoria Sporting Club and Brothers Union in the KAI-Altech Premier Division Cricket League Wednesday.
Victoria pacer Milon came to bowl in the 47th over against Pakistani Fahad Ullah and local Anisur Rahman and gave away 39 runs, including -- five no balls, three fours and two sixes.
The paceman, who earlier bowled eight overs to give away 25 runs, finally finished 9-1-64-0 in the Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protisthan ground.
"In my 20-year umpiring career, I never saw any bowler concede 39 runs in an over," Mahbubullah, who stood in that match, told bdnews24.com on telephone.
Fahad Ullah (106 not out) and Anisur Rahman (80 not out) put on 197 runs for the unbroken fifth wicket to take Brothers to 270 for four in 50 overs.
But, that was not enough for Brothers to avoid a three-wicket defeat at the hand of Victoria.

What a nightmare for the bowler concerned.
25 runs in eight over and 39 in one! I am sure that over will hunt him for a long time.

This certainly is not the record in one day games. 5 no balls + 6 balls is already asking for a beating. 39 out of 11 balls (hoping no wides) 3.5 per ball is bad but not as bad as the umpire potrays.

Here are some records in a Minor Cricket.

True its 11 ball over but 5 of them weren't legal to begin with. So you can't really count them. If 39 runs in a over is not bad, I don't know what is. :p
Maybe Tigers_eye bhai has worse record in parar cricket.

These are all six ball overs. I would like to see overs that had no-balls and wides.
By the way, Good to see you back.

Rudro bhai, Dhaka Prfemier League does not have List A status. Apart from tour matches (involving A team and national team) Only NCL one day matches have got List A status.
Can anyone confirm me?

Milon was not a regular bowler even at U/19 level. He is probably just a slow medium pacer. Sabbir Khan (Victoria captain) should have known better than asking him to bowl at 47th over, especially when your opponent has six wickets in hand.

It's nothing unusual and we probably will face this situation in world cup soon when facing Jayawardane,Jayasuria, Tharanga,Tendu, dada or Even Sewag. The way our part time bowlers ball and even Mashrafee in end overs...this can happen to us.

At last a Banladeshi has a cricket record

Sports
| 39-run over!
Sports Reporter
Nazmul Hossain Milon was having just another decent day in the ground until he walked in to bowl his ninth over. In the Kai-Altech Premier League match against Brothers Union, the Victoria paceman had reasonable figures of 0-25 in eight overs, but batsmen Fahad Ullah, Anisur Rahman and the cricketing pest known as no-ball all conspired to give him an over to equally forget and remember.
Milon, who has an awkward bowling action, started off giving away couple of runs off the first ball, before embarking on a no-ball binge. He stepped over the popping crease four times in a row, getting hit for boundaries off two deliveries. Things got a little normal when he bowled three legitimate balls, but still gave away seven in the process. Milon, now having given away 24 so far, must have wanted the ground at BKSP to swallow him up but things were about to get a lot worse.
He bowled another no-ball and then was hit for two sixes by Fahad, Brothers' Pakistani recruit.
To summarise, a despondent Milon bowled 11 deliveries in all, getting hit for 39 runs in the over. This was the highest number of runs conceded in one over in a limited-overs match at any level in the world. The 30-year-old record of 34 runs in one over was held by Sir Viv Richards who struck 5 sixes and a four off David Graveney in a county one-day match at Taunton.
A big-hitter himself, Milon walked off flabbergasted, having given away 64 runs off nine overs now.
His last over went: 2, 2+nb, 4+nb, 1+nb, 4+nb, 2, 4, 1, 2+nb, 6, 6.
Now, can any one list other goats in this area?

Technically, one of the batsmen being Pakistani takes away part of the credit. Too bad

You are right, I guess.
Tigers_eye, any idea how those 77 (or 75) runs were taken? I can't imagine any bowler other than me giving away so many runs in an over!

Boss, how it was scored I can not say. But here is a scorecard. Look at the last bowler's stat. he only bowled 1 over and gave 77 runs. But guessing from the zero balls there were five dot balls and may be the last one would make the sixth ball. Rest of them should be all no-balls. Pure guess
http://www.cricinfo.com/db/ARCHIVE/1...20FEB1990.html
Canteberry needed 291 and scored 77 in the last over and had a total of 290. This happened in 1989-90 hard to believe.
I got the bowling analysis of that over from
http://usa.cricinfo.com/db/STATS/FC/...BALL_OVER.html
.

I think I remember reading about that match in the guinness book, im not sure, but i remember that the Wellington bowler started bowling no-balls on purpose as he already knew it would be a draw, dont ask me why.......

Well, if you ball 5 no balls in one over..u deserve to be thrashed like that...
but gotta feel sorry for him as well, no one wants such a record under thier name...
who knows, this would do a "Mashrafee" on him and he would come back to be a good bowler for his team and may be for the country...

Good news for Victoria is that Waskurni got his ban uplifted. I hope, even with his new action and reduced speed, he will be able to do a better job during death overs.

Someone please take a look at this "record". I'm not so sure yet.
It has been my experience that if there is ever a "worst" of any cricket record, England has already done it. If not England, one of the other so-called big guys did.
I can't accept this 39 is a record, without checking first.
