Ash should go all the way for batting if he wins the toss.

I think Ash will choose to bowl first as it is a bouncy green turf------ for that reason BD
has chosen three seamers.

Ash with his batting style looks like he is using a Samurai. Very discipline and confident with his bat movement. Only if he used his brain like his hands.

Okay, here's where I'll jump in.

350 runs is meaningless if it's not said in terms of the amount of time spent in the middle. I would rather put it as, 300+ runs in at least 150 overs. If that's something our batsmen are capable of doing, I'll say that's good. And that's when it'll make the difference between our current Test side, and the one that made 300+ in 150 overs.

Agree, but do you think our batsmen can stay that longer? It will require so much patience and temperment that they never ever did that in their whole cricketing career(individually, as a team they might did once or twice). We can't expect them to do that against world class SL bowling attack. I see no hope from our batsmen to stay in crease for 150 overs or even bat for four sessions in one innings, we are that much unprepared for test.

Can't wait for tomorrow morning. Theory of relativity starts to work here. All the clocks became slower.

Agree only one exception, when we bat...it ends up really quick.

The question isn't whether they can stay that longer or not, but that they MUST do it if they are to be considered even a mediocre Test playing team.

So far, yes, we haven't seen much of that patience. We've seen that here and there, but nothing too substantially. What we need at the moment is put those patience in pracice, and make it a habit. Consider Ashraful and Rajin's innings in first Test. They were patient for the most part. As soon as they played a silly shot, they found themselves back in the dressing room. That only points to one thing, which is, they know that they have to be patient and calm while in Test, and they're trying their best to do that too. It's just that sometimes, our "stupid" side of the brain takes over the "rational" side. That's what our players have to control.

At the moment, considering these criteria, players like Aftab are the worst choices for Test. Give him a bat, and he'll try to hit everyone. That's what you call reckless. Look at Tamim. He's shown some rationality in his shot selection. But every so often, we see him lose his patience, and try and unleash himself. That's where he needs to do some homework.

There's no direct solution to these. These need continuous effort from every angle. Psychiatrists can't help until they play a considerable amount of time in the middle, and play more 4-day matches at home. International arena isn't a place for them to "learn at the job", but a place for them to "show what they've learnt behind the scenes". And these "behind the scenes" happen to be, in this case, domestic 4-day matches. Until they practice for all that, they cannot make it a habit. And until they make it a habit, they can't survive in the middle.

Excellent post I liked it a lot Kabir. I hope BCB immediately takesattempts to solve this problem of 'learning at the performance stage" rather than learning "behind the scenes" at leagues.

BCB? do they really know where is our problem? or are they cricket organizers because of their passion to the game or something (don't need to elaborate, I guess) else ? Most of them came to BCB for making money, fame, etc etc. Not for developing the game. Thats why after a bad series, the summoned coach, captain, manager and never think at the origin of the problem.

I'm not gonna watch this match tonight. But I'll pray for them, and hope they have lots of surprises for me in the morning. Surprises, in the good sense.

Glad to see a stronger batting line up for this game. Good luck to Mehrab jr. on his Test debut. I have a feeling he will do well.

And If Mushfiq can hang on to those half chances, then we have our wicket keeper for the future for a long time, so good luck to Mushfiq as well.

InshAllah Bangladesh will perform better in this game and will make up proud. GO BANGLADESH GO!

No, I have work in the morning. And every single time I stayed up and went to work without sleep, they disappointed me.
