"He is the Dalai Lama of Fast Food Order taking"
Junior-the Wendy’s guy is exactly who his name describes-- He’s a guy who works at the Wendy’s in the University of Texas at Austin Student Union. Almost everyone who went to The University of Texas in the last 7 years knows Junior. For those that didn’t, Junior is a cashier at the Wendy’s in the Student Union.
Junior is no ordinary cashier, far from it, this guy is the best cashier fast food or retail has ever seen—no kidding. Going through Junior’s line at Wendy’s is a spiritually enlightening activity. Okay, maybe not spiritually enlightening, but I promise you that you come out of that line a lot happier than when you went in.
Although this doesn’t seem like a standout position, it would be a mistake to dismiss Junior as “just another Wendy’s employee”. Junior literally punches in your order before you have even finished giving it to him. He is the most energetic and happy person you’ll ever meet. He wants to impress you with his insanely fast “order punching action”.
Junior is great for many reasons.
One, he’s the quickest cashier in the world, hands down, no contest. You can’t even really see his hands move. He can punch an entire order in less than a couple seconds. He gets frustrated with you if you get to him and you don’t know what you want, he wants you to spit it out so he can punch it in. Bingo bango, it’s like an art and a science, beautifully coinciding for one brief glorious moment in time…and then you get your burger.
Two, he remembers your order. After going two or three times over the course of a couple weeks, he remembers exactly what you want. Assuming you don’t change your order, he’ll ring it up before you even realize he’s ready for you.
He is attempting to set a record of ringing up over $1,000 worth of food in less that 30 minutes and there’s a documentary about it.
Junior has quite a fan base here at UT. His fan group forum has 3200 members !!! His fans have created facebook groups dedicated to him, taken him balloons, cards, and have even created a short film about him. There’s a website all about junior that even has a short trailer about the guy.
