Default Team selection when Mashrafe is back?

No one has thought about this yet. Now with Shafiul and Rubel are playing so well and BD has a policy of playing 3 spinners how does Mashrafe fit in. Plus with Shakibs excellent captaincy should Mashrafe be the captain. Would Mashrafe have kept 2 slips to rubel when kane Wiliamson was on? No doubt Shakib is the man for the job but what will happen...

I think its all up to shakib he does not captaincy until after the world cup.
I wouldnt have Mashrafe in the team when we play 2 seamers. I will have him in my team away series.

@ Haru-Party... You are answering your questions. If he can play spin better.. let him come one down when spinners are introduced and the ball gets a little old. Although Imrul is not the most technically correct player in the team... but he s consistent. I'm not his biggest fan.. but as long he is scoring runs... he deserves a spot.

@WarWolf... we desperately need powerplay/end over hitting fix. I see no one better fit them one and only Shuvagoto. He has very mature head on his shoulder. Jahurul can also be a contender for this position.

Mash, Naz, Shafi, Rubel - all are injury prone (Mash more than others). Team management need to come up with a rotation plan till WC'11 for those four pacers

My first 11 would be:

1. Tamim Iqubal
2. Imrul Kayes
3. Shakib-Al-Hasan
4. Mahmudullah
5. Mushfiqur Rahim
6. Ashraful / Shahariar Nafees
7. Mashrafee
8. Abdul Razzak
9. Sarwardi Suvho
10. Shafiul Islam
11. Rubel Hossain

* During the fielding we have to replace ashraful with Nayeem Islam.

lol. i know.. but well we need a sound hitter at number 6. who can accelerate the run rate. it worked for us in WC 2007.

besides, given Zunaid, Nafees, and Rakibul being slight out of sort, ash wont be a bad option. Otherwise what happened in the last ODI may happen all over again during the WC.

Good thread. A full fit Mash is automatic choice. Now Rubel doing fantastic job so he will definitely be there in next team. Shafiul and Nazmul also done well. But in BD condition 2 pacer and three spinner strategy works well. Then we have to leave out our top death overs bowler. Really a complex situation!

I'd be shocked if Rubel/Shafiul is dropped for Mashrafe.

I keep hearing about Shuvagoto Hom. I really don't know much about the kid. Can someone enlighten me a bit? What position does he bat? stats, SR, avg..etc ?

First order of business should be to hand Sakib the captaincy. If Mash is given that job, he will have to be an automatic selection, and since we will be carrying three spinners in WC on home soil, either Shafi or Rubel have to be sacrificed to accomodate Mash, unless we play three pacers. So, captaincy has to go to Sakib, and provided Mash returns with a clean bill of health, only then we can consider his place in the team as a pure bowler. Both Shafi and Rubel has greater upside and especially with Ian Pont at the helm.

Mashrafee will defintely make the 14 squad. In case of Rubel, Shafiul. I think coaches will decide through practice, who performs better. There is no point player 3 pacers as its a spin pitch. The disadvatage with playing Mash is his speed.
The advantage is, we get an extra batsman, he is a good swinger, strike bowler.

the 14 squad should be,
Tamim
Imrul
Nafees
Junaid
Sakib
Mushfiq
Mahmudullah
Mashrafee
Shuvo
Razzaq
Shafiul
Rubel
Jahirul
Naeem/ Rasel/ Dolar

unbeatable

why not a thread about "Team selection when Mash & Tamim are back"?
cause these 2 will be definitely in,so who will be left?

My team:
1) Tamim
2) Kayes
3) Siddique
4) Nafees/ Jaharul
5) Shakib
6) Mushfiq
7) Riyad
8) Mashrafee/ Shafiul
9) Shuvo
10)Razzak
11) Rubel
First point id like to make is that shuvagoto hom has only played 9 first class matches. Lets not be hasty and put him straight into international cricket. The other point is that riyad has alot of talent. If you read the latest article in cricinfo, then you would know that he knows what his problem is and is working hard on trying to hit those sixes. Give him a bit more time. The dilema is that i want jaharul in the team but also nafees. I cant drop JS, so i would probably give jaharul a go at 4 and if he does bad then go with shariar.

I think if Mash is fit then Rubel would have to sit out regardless of his performance during the last two match...

the inclusion of Tamim is likely to throw Raquibul out of the team (yay!)
with SN at 4 and Junaid retaining 3

Anyone knows whats going on with Kapali?... is there any chance for him to be playing the worldcup? I would love to see him replace Mahmudullah... still cannot forget Kapali's brilliant knocks in the ICL
