Our Next Multi-Nations\' Fixture: Asia Cup in March 2006
Pakistan 'to host next Asia Cup'
Pakistan has never hosted an Asia Cup tournament
Pakistan are to host their first Asia Cup one-day tournament next March, according to Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Shaharyar Khan.
Khan told the Reuters agency a decision had been made at Monday's meeting of the Asian Cricket Council in Dubai.
He said India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh have all confirmed their participation, and that qualifiers would also feature.
Six teams, including Hong Kong, played in the eighth Asia Cup, in Sri Lanka last year, the hosts triumphing.
Pakistan has not hosted any of the previous tournaments, dating back to 1984 because of poor diplomatic relations with neighbours India.

This is a sudden news. I didn't expect to see the Asia Cup to be staged so soon!

It seems that the Asian Cricket Council site of www.acc-cricket.com been removed.
I went there to find out which will be the ICC Associate nations to participate in the next Asia Cup - the 2006 Asia Cup, besides UAE, but now I can't seem to find that site, nor can I find anything on the ACC trophies.
I found on a site of Hong Kong that the last Asia Cup, in which Bangladesh beat Hong Kong, they were in the Asia Cup after qualifying during the ACC trophy 2000.
So after that, there must be some Asia cup that went ahead, but Cricinfo's ICC site doesn't have any such info.
I remember from one of my earlier readings somewhere that UAE is the 2-times champions - first during 2000 ACC trophy and the next ACC trophy after that.

This is good news. I hope Bangladesh is comepetive in this tournament. I would like to see some wins for them. It's over a year from now unfortunately. Why can't it be annually?
Can't really make any predictions because it is way too far away but Pakistan seems to be the best ODI team in South Asia CURRENTLY.
-four straight wins on India
-beat Sri Lanka two times before losing to them in the finals in that tourney with Zimbabwe
-doing quite well in the VB series ODIs... beat WI comprehensively twice and also an easy win on Australia
-the batting has greatly improved and the bowling is depleted right now but expect it to be replenished with Shoaib, Sami, Shabbir, Gul.... etc.

More games for Bangladesh will do them good. They need to play quality opposition, Zimbabwe isn't exactly a cricket powerhouse..
But neither is Hong Kong
More games against Pakistan and India will only benefit the Bangladeshi's
