Shakib breaks into top 10 Test bowlers
Congratulations Shakib Al Hasan. He is continuously breaking into new grounds, unchanted territories for Bangladeshi cricketers. Now he is ranked 10 (was ranked 9 on 3rd August 2010) among the Test bowlers.
He is one of the few players who feature in the top 10 Test bowlers (10), top 10 ODI bowlers (2), top 10 Test all-rounders (3) and top 10 ODI all-rounders (1). It would be great for Bangladesh cricket if he can one day break into top 10 batsmen of the world in Tests and ODI.

Shakib is simply world class and by far the greatest talent our country has ever produced till date. More consistency in his batting could take his rankings higher up the order in test cricket.
Zaheer Khan is the odd one out in that top 10 list . Overrated.

It's another terrific achievement by Shakib. It's kinda getting old always congratulating him for something. Anyway Congratulations to Shakib, the greatest cricketer of BD.

Well done Shakib! It just goes to show that he's a bowling allrounder rather than a batting allrounder.

that's what makes Sakib so important and unique than any other player in the world, you will hardly see any player's name in a top 10 list in so many different categories.
Sakib,our Moyna pakhi.

Can anyone shed some light on how are these points tabulated? I am very much interested to know what will constitute a "jump"? I mean intuitively of course he can rise to #6 or #7 but what are the realistic odds of closing in the huge margin with Steyn and actually making it top? Just curious...I know it's a far cry but just wanna know.
Congrats Shakib!

Shakib is a good bowler no doubt but he needs some batting advice from Tamim and Ash.

So who did he pass? I mean considering he hasn't played a test in last one month, it must be someone who performed baaaaad and made way for Shakib.
Edit: Oh, he's been there for a while.
http://www.reliancemobileiccrankings.../test/bowling/
Edit: And his highest ranking was 9 - ( 03/08/2010) before either of Bhajji or Broad surpassed him.

That's his batting style.Ashraful got too much criticism from fans and now he can't even hold the bat properly let alone cross 10 runs in an innings. I believe Shakib may be the ideal FINISHER we are looking for. steady when necessary, blietzkrieg when desired. he would be a very handy #6/7.
what he needs to work on is Batting Technique. he is a decent acccumulator, and a good boundary hitter, but poor technique! However,it is acceptable if he is to be used a lower order pinch hitter, although if he is to be used as a top order batsmen then i would agree that he would need considerable amount of improvement in that area. maybe the county experience wil help him
