Riyad was not selected because of his sickness (is it fever?). Sunny is omitted because of Razzak who is a good ODI bowler. Sunny will be in test squad.

So I'm thinking Kapali will get a couple of more chances. I hope they'll start playing Nazmul Hossain regularly.

i want the same XI for the ODIs, except i want ash to be replaced by hom and sunny to replace razzak in atleast 1 odi. hom doesnt have to play at 1 down. we can shuffle the order. and oh yea, SN should replace alok in the 2nd ODI if alok fails in the 1st odi

Riyad have groin injury as well as viral fever so makes sense won't miss him at all as both Kapali an Nayeem thete to take his spot.

Naeem .. Alok....Hom... whoever get the chance... don't mess it any more... because there will be none left when VC Riyad comes back, it will be harder to continue getting chance. Use it as if it's your last chance to showcase what you can bring to the table.

Nasir will play... looks like Razzak and Ash will play .... Riyad will be eventually back....very little wiggle room left for Naeem/Alok/Suvo/Hom.

My eleven:
  1. Tamim Iqbal
  2. Imrul Kayes
  3. Naeem Islam
  4. Mushfiqur Rahim(c)
  5. Shakib Al Hasan
  6. Alok Kapali
  7. Nasir Hossain
  8. Abdur Razzak
  9. Shafiul Islam
  10. Nazmul Hossain
  11. Rubel Hossain
12th man: Showrowardy Shuvo

Ash's temperament is good for T20 only, as was demonstrated today. Again. I'll give Alok Kapali this entire series to prove that either he belongs or he does not.

If Razzak sucks, we have a few fallback options.

Competition for playing 11 will be very tough. I think only SN might have a chance in first two ODIs at the cost of Kapali/Nayem. But it will be unfair to drop Nayeem. IMO, let the same team play first two and then change if needed/whoever doesn't perform.

@Shuziburo; u r right, that's why Ash is the highest scorer of last test we played. There are so many ODI temperature players sitting in the bench to replace Ash. Good judgement.

Selectors and Captain now have a strange dliema with Imrul scoring well on the T20 and Naeem taking wickets... That places the Nafees/Alok/Ashraful/Naeem/Hom into a tricky equation. I think Naeem was included as Riad was sick/ill, otherwise, he probably wasnt going to be in the playing XI.

Riad being out makes it easier now somewhat but will become an issue if #6 performs in this series. However, Nafees, playing in place of Tamim, was ousted once after good performance against NZ when Tamim was back. Same thing might happen when Riad is back in the fold.. All in all, good for BD cricket when we have few options.

selection 101 : select according to role/need.

The new coach/captain need to decide what type of team they want (how many pacers, spinners, batsmen etc.) and then pick the team.

We always get caught up with picking individuals and then deciding on a spot for them.

I don't want to see anymore 'backup plan players'. There should be a plan to set the 50 overs amongst 5 bowlers and have 1 (at most 2) additional players in mind who can turn their arm if needed.

Same with Batting line up. If you don't have faith in the top 6/7 to put on runs, batting down to 8 or 9 at the expense of a capable bowler makes no sense.

I would go with:

Tamim
Imrul (Nafees as next choice)
Ashraful (Nafees as next choice)
Shakib
Mushfiq
Kapali (Hom as next choice)
Nasir (Naeem as next choice)
Nazmul (Naeem as next choice if we want only 2 pacers, but Naeem's role should be as a full time bowler)
Razzak (Shuvo as next choice)
Shafiul
Rubel

I was very surprised that Kapali did not bowl at all yesterday :O
Anyways, I still think Kapali should get a chance for the series in order to see where he stands after that BCB can take him/throw him out of the team depending on his performance.
As for the ODI team, no changes should not be made. The same team for t20 should play the 2st odi at least. The tea needs to get adjusted. Why do we have to follow other teams like India/England/Australia? Let us first get a team adjusted and gel well. Team eri obostha 12ta er moddhe changes anle to leje gobore obostha hoye jabe!!

Sound reasoning. I think I would pick the same squad with the same dilemmas, although I'd probably have Mushfiq come in at #4.

1) Tamim
2) imrul
3) S. Nafees
4) Mushfiq
5) Shuvagoto
6) Ashraful
7) Nasir
8) Shakib
9) Razzak
10) Nazmul
11) Rubel

12) Naeem

Not picking Shafiul as he's expensive and Nazmul is a miles better bowler than him.

From another thread....

Quote:
My team for tomorrows match.

Tamim: Automatic Choice

Imrul: Automatic Choice

Naeem: He is an innings builder. Need someone like that at #3 who can build the innings and accelerate later on. Very handy off spinner as well.

Ash: Gambling. Can be tried as a partnership breaker bowler.

Mushfiq: Most reliable batsman in the team right now.

Shakib: Hope he gets his form back. Best spinner in the team.

Kapali: 1 T20 innings proves nothing. Needs to give more chances. Can be given few overs with the ball.

Nasir: Best solution for lower middle order.

Razzak: He has lot of offer in the ODIs.

Rubel: Best pacer in the country right now.

Shafiul: Looks to have his rhythm back.
