Wanted-the best batting coach in the world!
Wanted-the best batting coach in the world!
Batting at international level is our Achilles’ heel. Furthermore. junior players are our future and they are in that age where their technique can be altered and moulded to perfection. Dave is doing a good job giving the team direction and motivation to improve. Let’s face it, he has a lot of players to spend his time on and cannot afford to give 100% of his attention to the team’s batting problems.
However, we could also start to look at specialist coaching for the younger batsman. Coaching at this stage would help the younger players such as: Ash, Kapali, Sarkar, Rajin and the newcomers such as Nafis. A core group of let’s say 8 batsmen who are most likely to be the top batting burden in the next few years should be inducted in a crash programme focused on their batting deficiencies at test level.
To achieve this we need either a high profile batsman/Coach to assist Dave. This is not just a batting coach that we have but someone focused on only one job: to markedly improve the batting of our select few players and take it to another level. If this could be implemented before the Zim series we could see some results. This person should also be a mentor to these 8 players so that their test career is guided properly.

Dave has already asked for a batting coach for the lower order batsman. He will come during the month of January.
May be he can help in the batting of the top and middle order batsman too.

If you guys remember, our cricket took big leaps forward when we had batsmen as coaches. Javed Miandad hinted around for the longest time about his interest for the job. Finally, he was picked by PCB. I do agree with others that we need a solid batting coach.

Miandad would have made a wonderful batting coach. He came for just 1 week once, and already had an impact. He is doing well with Pak team also.
