Robin Singh a Possible Candidate to replace Siddons
Quote:
Meanwhile, the BCB has already short-listed replacements for Jamie Siddons as the chief coach, with former India all-rounder Robin Singh's name making the list.

He is also currently working with the USA U'19 team and might take over the national team soon.
We should not hire anyone from subcontinent. We should hire someone from SA, England, or Zimbabwe.

Agree with your point of not hiring anyone from the subcontinent. And with Julien likely to stay as the fielding coach, Robin Singh's specialty is already covered. Remember how he turned around a super dismal Indian fielding unit into something substantial after he was appointed as their specialist fielding coach some time back.
Having said that, the Mumbai Indians have done well with Robin Singh as their coach. And as Murad bhai mentioned, he also had an instant impact on the USA U19 team, as they won the Americas U19 Championship, finishing the tournament undefeated. Their captain had lots of nice things to say about their new coach:
"I think he's a really good and hard-working coach. He's not about wasting time. People saw during the games, he worked the 12th, 13th, and 14th man like crazy. He never gave a chance for us to relax. I think that's important."

I want someone from the subcontient, a hot head, somebody who'll give a swift kick in the butt to some of these pompus players of ours.
A 2 year contract will suffice, since that'll give a contigency plan of some sort for the 2015 WC

don't trust desis...never have, never will. unless he is an outspoken supporter of BD cricket, assume he bears ill-will. don't want another Mohsin Kamal Khan or Mohinder Amarnath incident to repeat.

Who the hell is Robin Singh? (Don't give me his CI profile please!! I can google him if I want to know who he is, thank you.) Neither him nor Ganguly should be our coach. No big names and no one from Ind-Pak-Sri-Ban. All the good coaches were no-namers as a Cricket. Big names are hardly a good coach.

I would not mind If he is hired. We will get separate batting, bowling and fielding coach. His job will be motivation and planning. His English will be more understandable too and as an Indian he will understand Bangla a bit. Beside assuming he will be cheap.

Robin Singh was a fighting cricketer like Chacha. My guess is he will be a bad-hire. Mumbai Indians has a strong squad and the coach's work was not visible in any of their wins. Let's try Shane Warne.

Absolutely. Warne knows how to maximize what he has and then actually inspire performances well-beyond conventional wisdom.

a very hard working guy with fantastic work ethic and spirit but I doubt he will get the respect a coach needs to run a team. guys like tamim need someone to whip them into shape.

Getting Robin Singh will be 10 steps backwards . CV doesnt look great . Hasnt coached any top international team besides that fielding coach job with India. Being a Mumbai Indians coach isnt enough .
Shane warne is an excellent choice IMO .
