Official Petition thread to BCB: please extend BOTH Ian Pont and Julian Fountain's contract before it's too late!!!
To:
Chairman Lotus Kamal
Bangladesh Cricket Board
Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium
Mirpur
Dhaka: 1216, Bangladesh
Phone: +880 2 803 1101-4
Fax: + 880 2 803 1199
Re: Renewal of contract of Ian Pont and Julien Fountain
Dear Sir:
It is very disconcerting to find out that the contract of the bowling coach- Mr. Ian Pont- expires on March 31st, 2011 while the World Cup would continue to the month of April 2011 and Bangladesh Cricket Board, yet, has not taken any action for negotiations on this matter. As a fan who monitors the Bangladesh cricket very closely, it is my thorough acknowledgment about the tangible and viable development in both bowling and fielding departments of the game due to the influences of the coaches. I, hereby, request the committee to take actions apropos contractual agreement.
Thank you for your kind cooperation in this matter.
Sincerely,
Rifat Chowdhury

Dear BCB,
Both Ian Pont and Julian Fountain have proven their worth as coaches by bringing about immediate improvement in their respective areas. If they are amenable to an extension, please extend them immediately. I hope it is not already too late.
Sincerely,
Dr. S Kaisar Alam

Official Petition thread and letter needs to be given officially by an influential official whose submission will really work. What can we (Banglacricket) do to accomplish that task? Have we ever had success reaching out to the officials and if we did how did we do it?

Dear BCB,
Bangladesh Cricket has grown by leaps and bounds since the advent of highly qualified and professional coaches in Ian Pont and Julien Fountain. Their positive impact on the players are patently obvious and it behooves us to sign them up for the long haul for the betterment of Bangladesh Cricket. The duo are professional coaches; they will not wait until their contract expires to figure out the next step in their career. Given the positive impact they have had on our team, many will come calling. And if we let things too late, they will have signed on the dotted line for someone else and Bangladesh Cricket will be the loser.
I sincerely urge the BCB to initiate negotiations with Ian and Julien with the aim of extending their contract for an appreciable length of time.
Sincerely,
Dr Zunaid Kazi

You see the problem is this:
If you wait until the end of the World Cup, they will be gone. They will already have signed on and moved on.
A good manager does not need to see every t crossed nor every i dotted; a good manager can use fewer data points to make informed decisions. In the case of Ian and Julien, the data points are actually not few and far between that it is easy to see their positive impact and even easier to make the call that we need them here.
You wait, you late.

Ian and Julien are essential in our development as a cricketing force. Their contracts deserve extensions. Should've been done before the World Cup...

6 months contract for the job is useless. It should be at least for 2 years with a probation period of 6 months.

I am not signing as it won't make any difference. Lotus and Co. is completely BS. I don't want to waste my time as they don't know what does petition means.

I wonder what the CEO is doing? This is CEO's job not the president's.
If he let these two coaches go, I will assume he is not the right person for the job. I will be asking for his head.

Fact that Pont's contract goes till only March 31st shows BCB's professionalism. I hope we make it to April 2nd, just to shove some up BCB's murkho butt. BTW, it's not just Pont, and JF only. Also Henry and Grant and JS.
Do they always wait till the last day?
