Default Hero Worshipping: Some Guidelines

Hello all, I see that it's about that time of the year again. Oh you know, where a well-performing Bangladeshi cricketer is venerated to the point of literal worship, building up his myth and expectations to such unrealistic levels that when the inevitable disappointments arrive, they hit that much harder.

Yep, we did it with Ashraful, we did it with Shahriar Nafees, and now we're doing it with Shakib.

That's fine. As forum moderator is my request to you that threads about how handsome Shakib is, how wonderful his sweat smells, and how he compares to obscure cricketers like Gary Sobers and Imran Khan be kept to a minimum. There is already an Official Hero Worship thread by Murad. So if you want us to go over the draft of your letter to Penthouse detailing a fantasy tryst with Shakib that would be the port of first call. I will begin the business of merging other non-essential Shakib threads into the official one.

Cheers,

C.

I wanted to say the same. It shouldn't be allowed to open N number of threads after each game, on one single player. If there is a good performer MOM, there can be one MOM Thread and everything regarding him could be discussed there. While the match thread should be good enough to talk about the others.

Excellent initiative.

আমি এখন প্যেচ লাগাবো।
হু উইল বি দা ফেমাস থ্রেড স্টাটার? মুরাদের অনেক আগে অনেকে হিরোর সুতা খুলসে।

The oldest thread (among the merged ones) starter should get the nod with Murad's title I think that is fair.

Very good post. But I have objection about one word "worship". I think the word should be "praise".

I like this প্যাচ। এটি একটি উন্নতমানের প্যাচ হয়েছে।

You should have called it - "The idoits guide to how to worship a hero" - our fans need this guide so bad.
