Spain breaks the jinx and wins.

1964 is history and Ballack loses his 5th major final.

Not this day.

Well done Spain for finally and quite deservedly winning a trophy after 44 years.

The deserving side wins. Proved that their 21 game unbeaten streak was no fluke. The wham-bam style of German football lost to the classy, skilled Spaniards. Put a big smile in my face.

While I supported Spain in this match, I must say that I was disappointed by Germany. They seemed to almost give up hope halfway during the second half, and were really not putting that much pressure on the Spaniards -- something I would never have expected from the "never give up hope; play hard till the final whistle" Germans. I hope this doesn't result in the Germans deciding to give up the more entertaining attacking style that they first started playing with under Klinsmann.

Spain is the worthy ruler of Europe. Their game really makes me happy. Great defending as a unit, something the Spaniards were not capable of before, made sure they don't give up bad goals. Spain always had the offensive talents. Now, they have the defense to go with. I think Senna was the unsung hero. He was the much needed steel and ball winner that Spain never had. They have great visionary midfielders, with two fatafati contrasting strikers, and a top class goalie. Watch out Brazil and Argentina! This young Spanish team, along with young Dutch are very much the contenders for the WC in two years..

Really glad to see the Spaniards making it, finally.
No more perennial loser tag.
Congrats.

Now busk in the glory you have waited so so long.
Time for unity and rejoice.
