Brac, Grameen Bank under bomb attack
Brac, Grameen Bank under bomb attack
8 staffs wounded; 3 grenades recovered from a Brac office
Star Report
Eight people -- six employees of Brac and two of Grameen Bank -- have been injured in identical bomb attacks on two Brac offices and a branch of the bank since Sunday, while three grenades were recovered from another Brac office yesterday morning.
In the last of these attacks, unidentified men last night hurled three bombs one after another at the Grameen Bank branch at Nabagram village in Ullapara upazila of Sirajganj district, leaving bank employees Kona Khatun and Nurul Islam critically hurt.
A similar attack was made on the Brac office in Porsha upazila in Naogaon district on Tuesday night that severely injured four of the office staff. They are Area Manager Abdur Rashid, 34, Programme Officer Wahiduzzaman, 38, and employees Enamul Haq, 32, and Rezaul Karim.
Earlier on Sunday, Krishnakumar and Saiful Islam fell victim to another bomb attack on the Brac (Bangladesh Rural Advancement Committee) office in Kalai upazila sadar in Joypurhat district.
On yesterday morning, three powerful hand grenades were recovered from the premises of a Brac office in Rangpur Town.
The attacks are guessed to be made by Jagrata Muslim Janata Bangladesh (JMJB), as an arrested JMJB operative in a statement to a Bogra magistrate last Monday said the ultra-militant Islamist outfit has been carrying out and is determined to continue bombing NGO offices.

Since BNP is allied with Jamaite Islami, it is VERY possible.
See, politicians can even influence promotions. Thats one more reason politicians should be put in jail. There will be no hartal and no one to bribe and BD will win the next world cup in no time since we will have stadiums to practice

That is scary cisco-guy. To add to this grim scenario, our rank and file in the army, has been inaundated by madrassah students that graduate. You ever wonder where they go after finishing madrassah? To the army offcourse! They have no skill necessary to be productive in the real world after that education.

Provide facts, not myths.
Given army's hate for religion in general, this is a total made up story that madrassah students join Army. Corrupt madrassah students probably join the Jamaiti Islami cadder group for taka 100/day. And sincere madrassah students go about teaching in other Madrasahs.

Did you forget the corrupt Ershad. And army persons after taking power create political parties - example: BNP, Jatiya Party and they become politicians. So how can you say Army is better than politicians???

Dude, absolute power corrupts absolutely! You put the army in, they'll talk of cleaning up corruption for a few days, and then when they realize that they can remain in power for as long as they want, they'll turn out to be the most corrupt government we ever had! The folks in the army aren't from a different planet, they are the same as the people in the civil administration and our politicians. You give them power without accountability and they will show us just how well they can do it!! The army is not trained to run the country. They are good at what they do, so let them just do that. Our problems won't be solved by the army.

Why are we discussing the army and corruption anyway? This thread is about bomb attacks on NGOs. What is going on in our country? I just don't know what more needs to happen for our government to realize that we have a serious terrorist problem on our hands thanks to the Fundys and they need to stop this bullshit about the 'image' of our country. At this rate, we won't have much of a country left, let alone an image!

Some people thinks Army's job is only defending country, not taking over the government when it's not good enough.

Yeah! yeah! and the people are so dumb that they don't understand the tricks, but blame only religion or religious party.
Now we need Marshal Law??? Why not!! find someone named Musharaf and give him to rule us by Marshal Law!!!
Why not change the damn name of Bangladesh to something like Banglastan, which sounds more Islamic!!!
