Default Why Ashraful Called for One Day International (Asia Cup)

I am not really sure about why the selectors have chosen Mohammad Ashraful for the upcoming Asia cup. (this is really strange when a player under performs the Selection Panel Selects them for one day). Why?

the are many other talented batsmen who should be given chance to show the talent, (Mohammad Ashraful Days are Over). how worse does ashraful want to play?

please light this issue with your views and comment on why they chose him of the Asia cup? and who is the perfect replacement for him in the future!!!

As Miraz bhai pointed out in some other thread, he will continue to have this free ride till the WC 2011.

This few months could be either his last few days of international career or emergence of the real Ash we all hoped for.

Either ways, the team benefits in the long run.

Listen

This is the calculation that the selectors did

Ash's Test avg = 22.38 and ODi avg 23.72, so if 23.72 - 22.38 = +1.34 then the selection was an easy choice.

If Ash is good enough for the test team then he is ideal for ODi's since he is so much better in ODi's

your list says why he is still there. those are crap and he is too. so selectors doesn't want to get their hands dirty by touching crap.

i'd be trying to groom shuvagoto, but i guess nazimuddin has the A team performances but he's really got much better results in FC cricket than one-day cricket.

Perfect Replacement For Ashraful? That would be next Tamim or Shakib. But since no such talent is in sight yet, currently there is no replacement for Ash, perfect or imperfect.

Alok is the best candidate.
I hate Ash now a days but I stil think he should be in for limited overs but pls no more in Tests.
But that doesn't mean he should get free rides,if he doesn't score in Asia cup I hope he won't be back in Eng.

maybe shuvagoto or shabbir....s.shuvo needs to be groomed and mahmudul is someone to nuture to. why waste a spot on a player who hasn't improved, maybe even got worse after 10 years of being in the team? better off giving others ago because you can't lose even if they don't turn out. obviously pick carefully, only pick players who should be picked, players that are consistent and players who have shown potential, you don't just throw randoms into the team, but there's no point in continuing with ash, there just isn't, not atm anyway and history suggests there will never be a point to continue with him (an international team just can't afford a specialist batsman or even allrounder who averages just 22/23 with the bat - especially if they've been at it 10 years).

how do we find our tamim's and shakib's unless we give them a chance? we need to do our best to find them before the WC so we can groom them properly. shuvagoto might be a tamim or shabbir a shakib (or better yet successful enough in their own right for people to be compared to him).

In your poll, the names you are chosen are worse than Ash, Alok is not even in the Squad, Nizammudin is still not a sound player, Aftab is not interested in playing for BD, does not want to do the hard work, SN is worse, the rest of the guys mentioned here are newbies.
