It'll be interesting to see who wins this low key series. Should be a good contest

Mccullum and Taylor staring at tons, Redmond the only batsman to miss out so far.

Honestly Rutherford and Fulton missed out as well. All 3 played poor strokes although Rutheford not as much.

Very disappointing stuff from Windies. Just no fight at all from them. Gabriel especially has looked horrible.

WindieFan bhai...I know it's still early days but after being put into bat, at 367/3 at the close of day 1, NZ aren't looking too out of depth against the mighty Windies, are they?

gabriel was tremendously hyped, i was excited to see him when he had his debut test match, but when i saw him i thought, yeah this kid is good but he's not great, he's decent enough but he's not a standout star. he did take a few wickets though so i gave him the benefit of the doubt, i will be perfectly happy if he proves me wrong and he does become a star bowler but i haven't seen it when i've watched him. i think holder and beaton are really great prospects, there's also cummins and a few others who look to have the potential and attributes.

From a physical standpoint he looks the part. Has a long ways to go though in terms of the mental part. He just could not bounce back from the hammering. Cotterell should've honestly played ahead of Gabriel. I agree Holder and Beaton are also good prospects.

Sammy actually won the toss and decided to make them bat first??? Oh dear, he's dug his own grave. If Windies get hammered in this Test series, it'll be curtains for him.

At 575/8 after two sessions on day 2, realistically there's no chance of NZ losing this test. Only two probable results at this point are NZ win or a draw. How much will NZ score before they declare? I think they should've declared 50 runs ago. Based on recent form I don't see WI scoring more than 400 in 1st innings and 200 in second. In NZ's defense though, they've scored at a very fast pace and earned the right to bat a bit longer than necessary and tire WI out, leaving them an uphill task just to eke out a draw.

Agreed on some points. I think they could avoid the follow on but no doubt this is an uphill task. A lot depends on Bravo, Chanderpaul and Samuels, the 3 best batsmen for the WI.

Credit has to go to McCullum and especially Taylor. The man is just pure class. Such a big fan of him. He'll definitely go down as one of NZ's best players of all time imo.

Btw, I'm wondering how our boys would do here. Last time we played we did alright in the Test match. Still feel that winning a Test match would be too tough. Even a draw would be tough. ODI's would be interesting though.

Few moments ago this man just made another 50 in style, hitting Sodhi through mid-on. Right before that he went past another outstanding milestone of being the 5th batsman (excluding the flat-track bullies) and 2nd of West Indies to reach 11K test runs.

The only player above him still dubiously in function is the all-rounder Jack Kallis. Way he is continuing seems this might be the innings he would break that and other records of his own (like scoring a doubleton to go past his previous 203*).

Respect SHIV.

Ponting->Kallis->Lara->Border->Chanderpaul >> 11K

Chanderpaul is a true legend. Like I've said before, had he played on India, Australia, England and to some extent SA, there'd be a lot more talk about Chanderpaul. Instead he doesn't get talked as much about like Tendulkar, Dravid, Waugh, Ponting, Kallis. Had he been on a better team we'd have seen him score more runs and also a higher average.

To add to that, this humble gentleman has been scoring at a mind bending 70 average in 50 test matches over the last 7 years. During this period he averaged 80 against Australia, 78 against South Africa, 70 against England, a mammoth 160 against Bangladesh. In our last test series against WI he was clearly the difference between the two teams. This guy is the living embodiment of the proverbial "fine wine" of cricket that gets better and better with age. Can't think of any other modern day cricketer who has gotten so much better after turning 35. At this rate there's no reason why he can't keep playing until 45.

Look at the way Tendulkar and Ponting withered away in the end but not this man. As you say, he's not done yet. I really feel he should continue on because he's still so good and they need him more than ever.

Congrats to Bravo on the 150! It's a shame Chanderpaul is out, otherwise Windies could've had a chance at saving this Test.
