Default Ramadan: Daily Good & Righteous Deed Log

Ramadan comes and Ramadan goes. Its quite short lived. Rest of the 11 months; we pretty much blank out on Ramadan.

To keep this short lived time more significant for rest of year; and to make ourselves aware of good and righteous works let us start a log.

Everyday try to post at least once about something good, something righteous that you have done.

It could be for you, your family, or for anyone. It could be charity, could be helping out a friend, or could be just preparing the dinner for your family; anything that you feel good about.

Lets reflect on all the good and righteous that we can do.

Ok! Here we go. I wanted to complain against my son's teacher to the principal. Didn't.

I wanted to erect a public shrine with a list my good deeds, and didn't ...

Is it righteous to brag about righteous things that you probably should be doing anyway?

Perhaps inform someone else's good deed?

Not bragging, rather putting a conscious effort to do the good things. Posting about it should make you conscious about the good thing that you have done; as well as should encourage you to do more good things.

People brag about cars, home, and what not.

Even if the post comes out as bragging, theres no harm in bragging about something good that you have done. The world has enough stupid bragging going on all around. Time for some positive, good and righteous bragging. Never know, someone else might get encouraged to the same good thing that you have done.

i submitted the first chapter of what is going to be a regular column for a dating site ezine. it was full of swear words and reflections on sex. hope that elusive agent i had been trying to convince thinks something good of it.

other than watching football, posting a few messages here and writing my column, i haven't really done anything else today. perhaps little good, perhaps all bad.

Something very minor, but I helped an elderly man at the mosque, read some numbers on his pager. Ok, that was a very, very, very minor good deed.

the good: i successfully have kicked my lazy "bekar" habits by getting a job (low paying bitch work - i'm a teaching assistant).

the bad: the copy machine i can use for free is broken so i had to run all over the place and spend 2.37 dollars to get my work done.

the ugly: whilst walking around i cussed out, in mumbled breath, whoever i could think of at my department.

let us also try to spread the knowledge which is so important to islam in this month, remembering that more important than what source you are using to quote hadith/stories/parables, is that what you are saying is in accordance with the Spirit of the Qur'an al Kareem.

*************

"There is hope for the one who sins because of his desires, but I fear for the one who sins out of pride. Adam (alayhis salaam) succumbed to his sinful desire and was forgiven, but Satan sinned because of his pride and was cursed."

Sufyan ibn Uyaynah

"True knowledge is not measured by how much you memorize and then narrate, but rather, it is an expression of piety [protecting oneself from what Allah prohibited and acting upon what He mandated]."

Abdullah ibn Masud

Just had a meeting with the director of another department, for the possibility of moving their site over to ours. After coming back from the meeting, met with my boss and told her everythiing weird that the other guy said.

Not right...I'm a failure for this thread

Perhaps you can share some of that weirdness in another thread ?

I can think of my "ajaira" thread lurking about somewhere ...

Haha...for marketing purposes, and ONLY for marketing purposes, you might want to post a link to the 'ajaira thread'.
