I doubt he'd do worse than Mushi if given chance at #3. If Ash/Rakib don't want to play at #3, he's worth trying there as he's in form.

His batting style can be compared to a lesser technically correct Rakibul with a lower strike rate and less attacking shots.

He plays the drive pretty well against decent seamers and works the ball around with spinners, which is why he is more ideal in the middle order in an ODI, he is there to rotate the strike and keep his wicket.

His technique at the moment means it would be suicidal to expose him to the new swinging ball.

Riyad is not much of a bowler, and I find it idiotic to see a specialist batsman at #8. Unless the management can find him a place in 3-7, he should be sidelined and a specialist spinner should be brought in his place.

Riyad has done brilliant batting in recent NCL, but so did all the current national players at some point. As because Riyad played very well in recent NCL does not automatically put him to top order. You can only swap him with Mushi, then what about Naeem? Naeem has better stats than Riyad. Realistically whom can you swap Riyad with? Zunaid is an opener and Asharaful is not that bad to play at that position. Not long ago, Riyad was struggling to get runs as a National player. Let him play at number 7 or 8 and earn the position.

Guys... he played one decent innings. Lets see if he can contribute like this for few more innings and then he can move up the order slowly.

I personally think Riyad is exactly the kind of batsman that we would need to slow down our innings in case we lose too many early wickets. He has the exact temperment that we need in the ODI team.
