Default anyone else positive about our chances in the series against England?

I was nervous about our series against Afghanistan and I turned out to be right to be nervous. Not going to boast, but given the lack of form, rustiness, and fizz missing it was always going to be a tough series.

But about the England series, I think Bangladesh can be positive. They might have lost the 2nd ODI vs Afghanistan by small margin but showed character in the 1st till the end and comprehensively destroyed, yes destroyed, Afghanistan in the 3rd match.

Obviously, the team overcame rustiness, and vital players are finding form just before the match - Mushy and Imrul. In thes Afghan series, they had quality spinners unlike England side who will bolster their lineup with allrounders and Adil Rashid, who isn't bad but nothing compared to Nabi or Rashid Khan. The pitch will be sluggish and the ball won't come onto the bat easily. Woakes, PLunket, Willey are close to express if not express, in these condition they will find it difficult. MHR, Shakib will make their RHB struggle and for their lefties Mosaddek has to come to the party, and perhaps Riad too. Be assured that Moien and Stokes will play, and the former is good against spin.

However, no denying that England are the more professional unit, with better ranking but they will be expected to win against a lower ranked side. But we are playing in home in front of home crowd. Also, their recent performance against us don't inspire much confidence, its 3-1 in our favour. Not that these matter but the psychologial pressure will be there

Ofcourse, we need to up our game, especially fielding and finishing.

So I am positive about the series. Would love to win it, even if we manage a 1-2 I wouldn't be the most upset person in the world. So comeon Bangladesh

Ya baby!!!

Death over bowling needs to improve though, England right now is the most dangerous customer for this aspect of the game.

I tell you why this negative and position feeling you are having.

1. Afghanistan was #10 in the standings. A loss would take BD's hard earned raking points down. That is why the negative feeling. You play guarded against weaker opponent and most likely would make a mistake. Plus we weren't playing this format for a long time.

2. England is #5 in the ranking. 3 loss wouldn't hurt much. 1 win would give us a boost. 2 wins and we would be dancing in the streets. They are stronger opponents and we would play aggressive. Now we are not rusty as the other series.

+++

We win inshallah.

Didn't England tour us after our tour and we lost all three ODIs (b/c of umps)? Or was that before our tour there?

We should win the series. We have far more ODI experience than this English side; in fact, they don't have one player among their squad who has played over a 100 ODIs; we have several players (five to be exact) that has played over a 100 ODIs – experience counts.

Why would you NOT feel positive? That should be GIVEN. It's like saying: "You think we should go to battle with our legs intact or after surgery?"

It seems betting people are also predicting a 2-1 ODI series victory to Bangladesh.

Dave Tickner rates Bangladesh one of the cricket bets of the year in the ODI series v England.

Bring it on then!

I have never gambled. However, I know how the gambling industry works. Read up on it.

If you setting a line, your main goal is to attract people to place a bet on that line. Plus you want to attract those who are WILLING to place a bet and HAVE the money. You don't care who wins or loses. You make money when many people bet a lot of amount.

BD supporters are not willing to place a bet (religious reasons). BD supporters don't have the money to out bet the English.

So the line should be set to attract the English/British or potential gamblers to place a bet. 3-0 England line (that is what the English and others are thinking because of their outstanding current form and finds (Stokes -Woakes) plus a weaker BD side with no Fizz) is expected. Thus not many people would bet for England. Now if the line is 2-1 BD, English and others would say England is better than that so I would put some money in that. Now the better would make money with each and every bet placed by people.

Dave is a smart line setter.
