ash is not doing it in the middle overs...so instead of putting him there opening is the best option LEFT.

i applaud the BCB for having the balls to make such a move...at this point the only thing that will change ash, is that fact that he is facing a permenant axing, not just for a game or 2, or at worst a whole series.

we have forhad, sakib, and mehrab to thank IF ash really learns something.

I thought Golla,Rajin,Kapali,Tushar, all others competing for his place. Hint hint same category players all together going for one place. I think nothing will work unless we know how to play pace bowling in a pace friendly pitch. Our batsmen hardly can play and on the other hand they also suck in spin. What good are they besides throwing wickets.

Why do this when you have two specialist openers?

It’s a good move for the following reasons:
  • He is replacing a player (JO) who had no contribution for a long time so Ashraful should have no pressure.
  • He himself is not proving his worth to be included in the team, considering reason #1 and the fact that he will be in the best 11 no matter what, it’s a bonus for us if he clicks.
  • In the sub-continental flat pitch he should be able to play with natural aggression without fighting the exaggerated swing (though Vaas could give him a scare) which should increase his chance of giving us a good start and give himself a big score.
  • This will give Mehrab Jr. (if included in the best 11) a safer spot in the middle to get international exposure.
  • It will also give us left-right combo at the beginning which should create some trouble for the opponents.

I think it's a good move even if he scores 20 odd on average. I believe he'll average more in mid 30's as an opener. I see more opening partnerships of 50 w/ SN and Ash. Against Kenya the duo put up 38 in 6 overs which imo is better than what Rajin or Jo would provide since we'd reach 38 by the 10th over with a wicket down anyway.

দলে যখন আছে ছাই(Ash),
ওপেন করাতে সমস্যা কি ভাই?

Sorry..Bad kobita.may be Ash will give - বাড়া ভাতে ছাই as usually to our hopes, still I think opening is the best (or may be last) slot available for him at the moment.

Hope he can finally make a mark on the opener slot.
Plus a lefty/righty combination would be great as well.
But guess no point wondering what's gonna happen with him, we'll all hv to wait and see.
Only God knows better.

Since our opening pair has been failing anyway, Ash should be told to go all out and given a run for more than 1-5 matches as an opener

I think it is the last chance for him to prove his inclusion in the National Team. It should be a "Do or Die" for him.

Even Ash sucks in the CT, he will be there..same way sujon was there. We have no substitute and our selectors and board can't even find anyone in all these years. Look at them, Zimb is playing SA and our organizers could not organize a tournament even with A teams of lanka,or our selfish neighbors pak and ind. If they can't do it why they can't send them to Eng or Aus. I guess they are running short in cash as they spended it in shopping.

Default License to kill

Based on this 'Amar Desh' reort (LinK), Ash has given a 'License to kill', if played in the opening slot.

I just wish it doesn't turn out to be a "license to be killed(prematurely)"
