last time i checked they were still measuring speed just out of the hand, of course different pitches do different things to the ball (some hold it up more than others, some are more skiddy etc) but that shouldn't change what the speedo says, just changes how much time the batsman has to react off the pitch.

All the quicks bowled well yesterday. Rajib got the wickets, but thats how it goes sometimes.
Remember, theres another 12 wickets to get, and it doesnt matter if no-one gets five, and for that matter if no-one gets a ton, if everyone plays well and we all get the win.

i think there may be an issue with how guns are calibrated. all bowlers seem to bowl faster in Australia, england, SA, NZ, etc.
a few bowl slower, but for the most part the speeds seem to be higher in general. not sure what the deal is as spinners usually have the proper pace.

I think in good pitches, the bowlers get excited and have adrenaline rush..that's why they bowl faster in good pitches. In Bangladesh its pointless to try and bang it in fast unless its at an uncomfortable line & length for batsmen. Speed is indeed measured off the hand.
Regarding pitches themselves, slower pitches basically absorb more pace, hence the would reach the batsmen slower. I think a 145 kph ball only comes in at 120-130 kph at batsmen. However, a yorker which reaches batsmen on the full, will still be travelling at 145 kph. That's one reason why its harder to play. The harder one tries to bang it into the pitch, the more the pace will be lost. I don't know if our bowlers realise this when they bang it in short everywhere at sub 90 mph pace (previously sub 80 pace).
Regarding Shafiul, he can go beyond what Mashrafee promised to be. We really need to look after him. He's a good kid.

Bangladeshi players are not yet capable to do anything against condition. Srilankan condition won't help pacer too much. Shafiul has to bowl too well to perform good in Srilanka. Yse if wicket help the pacer, Shafiul is capable to do well.
I wish him all the best for the tournament.

Once again, BCB is neglecting to hire a good fast bowling coach, these guys are young and need proper coaching, if BD can have 3 lethal fast bowlers, then they can start winning matches.

The oval was the second test... So unless he magically went back in time, I'm not really sure it happened in that particular order

The practice match was in Oval. There were no Tests at the Oval. 2nd Test was in Old Trafford.

His death over bowling is good if the opponent needs the runs. While bowling in the first innings. . . :/

Quote:

Torn labrum hurts like a mohila kukur when you bowl quick. I have one and have opted to not go for surgery. By changing my action I can still bowl my dibbly dobblers but now pretty much play as a spinner. And trust me, every-time I bowl a quicker one I do so in pain.
Having said that, a whole bunch of NFL (american football) quarterbacks come back from this with full recovery so surgery if done right and allied to rigorous physical therapy will have Rubel back to slingin' 'em in!
