ঝুলে গেছে বিসিবির টিভি স্বত্ব!

ঢাকা: জাতীয় দলের খেলা সম্প্রচার স্বত্ব পেতে মাত্র দুটি প্রতিষ্ঠান আগ্রহ দেখিয়েছে। একটি দেশিয় কোম্পানি ভার্গো মিডিয়া লিমিটেড (চ্যানেল নাইন)। অপরটি ভারতের স্পোর্টিজ সলিউশন।

স্পোর্টিজ সলিউশন চার বছরের জন্য ১৫ মিলিয়ন ডলার দিতে রাজি থাকলেও তারা বিসিবির শর্ত পূরণ করেনি। ব্যাংক গ্যারান্টি না দেওয়ায় ভারতের প্রতিষ্ঠানটিকে অযোগ্য ঘোষণা করা হয়েছে। কিন্তু ভার্গো মিডিয়া লিমিটেড সকল শর্ত পূরণ করায় আগামী চার বছরের জন্য তারাই বাংলাদেশ ক্রিকেট দলের খেলা সম্প্রচার স্বত্ব পাওয়ার দাবিদার। ভার্গো মিডিয়া দিতে চেয়েছে ছয় মিলিয়ন ডলার। কিন্তু তাদেরকেও টিভি স্বত্ব দিচ্ছে না বিসিবি। কারণ বিসিবি যে পরিমাণ অর্থ আশা করেছে ভার্গো মিডিয়া তারচেয়ে অনেক কম দিতে চেয়ে টেন্ডারে অংশ নিয়েছে।

শুক্রবার বিকেল পাঁচটায় ‘টেন্ডার ওপেন’ এবং মূল্যায়নের পর যখন একটি প্রতিষ্ঠানকেও যোগ্য মনে করেনি বিসিবি তখন জরুরী বৈঠক করে পরবর্তী করণীয় ঠিক করে। বিসিবি পরিচালক ও মিডিয়া কমিটির চেয়ারম্যান জালাল ইউনুস বাংলানিজকে বলেন, ‘জরুরী সভায় সিদ্ধান্ত হয়েছে ভার্গো মিডিয়াকে প্রস্তাব করা হবে তারা স্পোর্টিজ সলিউসনের সমপরিমাণ অর্থ দিতে রাজি আছে কি না। যদি রাজি না হয় তাহলে আমরা আইনজীবীর সঙ্গে পরামর্শ করবো যে, স্পোর্টিজ সলিউসন ব্যাংক গ্যারান্টি দিলে নেওয়া যাবে কি না। অথবা পুনরায় দরপত্র আহ্বান করলে আইনি জটিলতা হবে কি না। সেভাবে সিদ্ধান্ত নেওয়া হবে।’

ভারতের চ্যানেল সেটম্যাক্সকে সঙ্গে নিয়ে ভার্গো মিডিয়া লিমিটেড (চ্যানেল নাইন) টেন্ডারে অংশ নেয়। আইপিএলসহ অনেক আন্তর্জাতিক খেলা সম্প্রচারের অভিজ্ঞতা আছে সেট ম্যাক্সের। চ্যানেল নাইন বিপিএল সম্প্রচার করলেও পাঁচ বছরের অভিজ্ঞতা না থাকায় সেট ম্যাক্সকে সঙ্গে নিয়েছে।

বিসিবি সূত্র জানিয়েছে, চ্যানেল নাইন তথা ভার্গো মিডিয়াকে টেন্ডারে অংশগ্রহণের সুযোগ করে দেওয়ার জন্য বিসিবি সভাপতি আ হ ম মোস্তফা কামাল জরুরী সভা ডেকে নিয়ম শিথিল করেছেন। কিন্তু সেই ভার্গো মিডিয়া বিসিবি সভাপতিকে হাতাশ করেছে।

TBH I am happy its SONY/Channel-9. At least we wont be playing second fiddle when India is playing. BTW was it not Sony who broadcasted our first test match.

নতুন দরপত্র চাইবে বিসিবি

টেলিভিশন সম্প্রচার স্বত্ব বিপণনে প্রত্যাশিত সাড়া না পাওয়ায় নতুন করে দরপত্র আহ্বানের সিদ্ধান্ত নিয়েছে বাংলাদেশ ক্রিকেট বোর্ড (বিসিবি)। বাতিল করা হয়েছে আগের দরপত্র।
বিসিবির মিডিয়া কমিটির প্রধান জালাল ইউনুস কাল টেলিফোনে বলেছেন, ‘আগের দরপত্রে অংশ নেওয়া স্পোর্টি সলিউশনস শর্ত পূরণ করতে পারেনি। আর ভারগো মিডিয়া যে দর প্রস্তাব করেছে, সেটা আমাদের প্রত্যাশার চেয়ে অনেক কম। আইনি পরামর্শ অনুযায়ী বোর্ড তাই যত দ্রুত সম্ভব নতুন করে দরপত্র আহ্বানের সিদ্ধান্ত নিয়েছে।’ তবে নতুন দরপত্রের প্রক্রিয়া সময়মতো শেষ করা না গেলে নভেম্বর-ডিসেম্বরে ওয়েস্ট ইন্ডিজের বিপক্ষে হোম সিরিজটি এককভাবে সম্প্রচারের (সিঙ্গেল প্রডাকশন) ব্যবস্থা নেবে বিসিবি।

BCB to float fresh tender

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has decided to float a fresh tender for its worldwide media rights after the failure of negotiations with local media conglomerate Virgo Media Limited.

The media company, which owns TV's Channel 9, was asked to raise its original bidding value, worth 6 million dollars, in order to match the offer made by Sporty Solutionz, an Indian consortium. The Indian company, which had offered a bid worth 15 million dollars last week, was declared ineligible as it had not provided a bank guarantee of 2.5 million dollar -- a key clause of the tender.

"Since Virgo Media couldn't match our proposal, the tender is no longer valid. They were given time till 18 September. We have now decided to go for a fresh tender," said BCB media committee chairman Jalal Yunus.

CH9 must be racking money from all the adverts. Now Bangladesh are leading 2-0 the price of ads must have gone sky high. They probably have already made their $50k they paid to BCB.

The problem with Channel 9 in UK where I live yeah is that every over there are adverts i.e. Solicitor and when the highlights are shown, the breaks between last almost 10 minutes. This is against Islamic principals too many money making adverts.

Yeah it irks me off that ch9 uk miss the first ball of every over and sometimes even the last ball. I missed Anamul's first ever run in ODIs and missed Tamim's wicket in the 2nd ODI. Complete joke broadcasting.
