With Umar Gul taking 5 wickets and Shahid Nazir taking 3 Pakistan really didn't suffer for the absence of Akhtar and Asif!

Somehow they seem to be coping up without Asif. Akhter was a good for nothing...no good line and length.

innings defeat against a side who don't have their top attack. We can take on both of them. Matter of time till we become #6. When does Lara, Inzi and Yousuf retire??

Lara is putting up a fight. This Lara-Chanderpaul partnership is very crucial for Windies to draw the game. The longer they hold on, the better chance they got.

I doubt others can hold out there much longer. Definitely not one whole day.
Winning is out of question.

Yes true. Asif was just another beginner, Pakistan has tonnes of players like him. There is nothing awesome about Asif.

As for Shoaib Akhtar he was a goner ages ago.

Lara gone on 122 Pakistan all but have the match won. Chanderpaul is suffering from dehydration so i think WI should just try to bat another 20 ovs get and try not to lose a wicket and then go out an blitz to set pak a target

from cricinfo

"A disgruntled few will also say, with some justification, one umpire deserved the award. Asoka de Silva's comeback wasn't memorable, almost all his poor decisions went against West Indies and mostly at crucial junctures. And that kind of support, when you're Brian Lara, you can do without."

Didn't I read some where in this forum something on this line that alone in this test Lara got two lives because of Ashoka? One decision favoring the best player should be counted as two for that team. That puts 4 decisions in favor of WI.

Titles of thread are strictly maintained. One can change the Title heading within the certain time of opening his thread. Then only the Mods can do that.

WI can collapse faster than a tasher ghor. I am not taking anything for granted untill they cross Pakistan's total. Good to see Gayle playing conservatively and maintaining a strick rate of 60+. Speaking of strick rate did anyone notice Abdur Razzaq's batting? Is it hard for any batsman to bat ODIs at a 100+ rate and play test at a 15+ rate?

Lara on the verge of his 34th 100 :

Quote:
End of over 84 (26 runs) - West Indies 281/2
BC Lara 92* (63b 12x4 5x6) Danish Kaneria 30-2-130-2
RS Morton 5* (9b 1x4) Umar Gul 23-11-40-0

26 runs off the over and Lara has moved into the 90's off just 63 balls
83.6 Danish Kaneria to Lara, FOUR, Boundary to end the over! full toss, Lara steps out and puts it away over the mid-wicket fielder
83.5 Danish Kaneria to Lara, SIX, Hat-trick of sixes! length ball and Lara steps out yet again and this time straight over the sight-screen, this is even bigger than the previous one, Lara is on a roll and this is really a treat to watch
83.4 Danish Kaneria to Lara, SIX, One more and this is high- Lara charges down the track and lofts it away high over the long-on fence, this is a massive hit and Lara is on a high
83.3 Danish Kaneria to Lara, SIX, short ball outside leg stump, Lara rocks back and pulls it away high and over mid-wicket fence
83.2 Danish Kaneria to Lara, no run
83.1 Danish Kaneria to Lara, FOUR, flat on the stumps, Lara steps out and lofts it straight down the ground, one bounce into the fence
Long-on and a long-off in place
