Default MyIE2

Have you guys tried the browser MyIE2? Not a new one, just built arround IE, but with lot's of controls at the finger tips. Love those controls. Many simple ways to open new windows. Pop-up control is very good. Tabed browsing is there, don't like tab browsing though. Autohiding toolbars means more view-estate.

I use Opera, which actually introduced most, if not all, of this MyIE2s "new" features years ago.

Opera is faster than any other browser, too. Although that isn't a big thing if you have a broadband connection.

Used Opera couple times earlier, didn't like it. Feature rich, no doubt about it. At that time Netscape 4.x was better to me. But stuck with IE for a while now. Mozilla showing great promise though.

BTW, opera is an adware.

Try Mozilla again or better yet if you need just the browser functionality, try FireFox... light, blazingly fast and very customizable

Trying Firebird for few months now. Not bad. Unlike the Fox brother, it doesn't have installer. I love those progs without installer! They had to change the name! Anyway, the loading time is long and address field is buggy. Rest is fine. Good pop control.

Actually I was annoyed by the IE warning messeage "Your current security settings prohibit running controls in this manner. As a result, this page not display correctly" as I intentionally disabled the activex thingy and was looking for some hack. Outlook Express was also annoying me because of the messenger's presence in the task manager which was not supposed to run. Besides, the OE loading time was very long. Finally found the OE fix but not the IE one. With MyIE2, no warning message so far.

Try the followings:

1. Open the MyIE2 options: OPTIONS > MyIE2 Options and click on the "ADVANCED" category.
In the "ADVANCED" category, disable IE Extensions under MyIE2 (uncheck "Enable IE plugin support") and click on "OK".

2. Shut down MyIE2, then open the main MyIE2 folder. In the main MyIE2 folder you will find the CONFIG folder.
Open the CONFIG folder & delete the Plugins.ini from that folder.

3. Restart MyIE2.

Yes, the free opera is an adware. The ad is paced on the button bar at the top-right corner, you know, the place you least care about.

Opera gives me all I need. Tabbed windows inside the browser, an address bar, integrated google and amazon search right beside my address bar (the only searches I ever use), little or no popups (since it's opera and popups are generally created for IE) and a nice option of closing all windows other than active with one click (which addresses whatever small number of popups I get).

Actually searching on google/amazon is even easier.

Say I want to search for Bertrand Russell on Google/Amazon. I just type "g Bertrand Russell"/"z Bertrand russell" in my address bar and voila.

I am mainly an Opera user. It is the fastest browser around but eats up a lot of memory. I usually have six or seven windows open at a time and the opera regularly hangs under heavy usage.

Online retailer Amazon has quietly launched its own search engine A9.A9 allows standard web searches as well as results from searching the text inside books offered on Amazon.

It's a toolbar. I used it. Pretty handy. Beta version though.
