Yes we need a pace bowling coach quick time, I was gutted when we lost Ian Pont.

We also desperately need pacer friendly wickets. You see it, I see it, Ian pont saw it, Geoff Lawson saw it so why the hell does BCB not see it?? Even Jamie Siddons pointed out that due to our dead wickets, nobody wants to bowl fast.

If we dont produce a couple of good pacers, we will never be a force in the world of cricket. Now that Zimbabwe are settled, they will leave us behind

How about Alister De Winter. He made it to the Aussie bowling coach shortlist. And he knows our cricketers, structure and culture well

To be more specific; we need Ian Pont, ASAP.

We needed to continue his development process for some more time (2/3 Yrs), before switching to other coaches.

I did say this when I left on CricInfo: "With good scouting and development coaching, I am certain that Bangladesh cricket can make a real impression in the world."

Despite deciding not to renew his contract, Pont would like to stay involved with Bangladesh cricket in some capacity so he can help develop the next generation of fast bowlers. "I feel this is a vital ingredient for replicating what Sri Lanka has been able to do, for example, in the same sort of time frame," Pont said. "Developing the pace bowling unit is going to make the Bangladesh cricket far more competitive."

I am open to working with the players at any level as I have always said and the BCB knows where I am

man, you are one amazing individual.....and trust me, if u end up doing that, since now u know our country well, u will end up with a bangladeshi citizenship and lead a king's life here...only if bcb could understand ur passion for our cricket..man this sucks, here we've got someone who can potentially change our fortunes, and bcb pulls up one of their worst decisions by not renewing his contract. srsly, is there no way we can get him back...???

Let's be fair to the BCB here. They did offer me a new contract but I was unable to stay as I had commitments here in the UK. I made those commitments because I hadn't heard anything about new contracts because everyone was waiting until after the WC. Trouble was, my contract expired DURING the WC (March 31st) so I made the decision to leave two months before that and build up my business back here. You cannot be penniless as a coach and have to make arrangements ahead of time.

No, then we can not be fair in this case. No way a professional cricket board should handle a professional coach this way. There was ongoing discussion on this issue before the world cup. we were concerned about renewing your contract experiencing your fruitful impact on our bowlers. BCB should have had the knowledge of whose contract should be extended long before getting expired. But they did not show any responsibly and professional mentality in making contract with the coaches. Look what they did with Julien Fountain. And see we are currently having a major tour to Zimbabwe after two months gap without any bowling coach! In result our bowlers failed to contribute. who are to take this responsibility?

hello BCB, is there any bowling coach to answer?

Ah, now you are talking about planning and succession planning. I cannot possibly comment

Ian do you think failure of our fast bowlers in the test vs zim was due to absence of a bowling coach ? i think as a bowling coach nothing more annoying than seeing fast bowlers bowling short balls and at the leg stamp when there is plenty of swing in the pitch.zim bowlers also did that occasionally.but we saw heath streak coming to bowlers number of time on the boundary line to remind them about the correct line.Do you think our bowlers missed that type of guidance or as a int. bowler they needed to know that themselves?

There is a bowling coach. They have had Geoff Lawson for a whole month and Sarwar Imran with the team for a few months I believe now.

i don't think we can address Geoff Lawson as the national team bowling coach. As there was no specialist bowling coach ,he had 2-3 training session with them.He mostly worked with the academy fast bowlers .
while i still doubt about the role of sarwar imran.i doubt because if he is the bowling coach then Lawson would not have been worked with the national team. but if sarwar is really the bowling coach then he has failed completely.either he has no ability as a bowling coach or the bowlers did not listen to him at all.

I think you will find Lawson did work with the national team as he reported on Rubel. There was an article about it in the Daily Star. Would have been limited time though but probably enough to get them thinking right.

Sarwar Imran has been with the team and now squad for a couple of months. He is definitely out in Zimbabwe as bowling coach and assistant coach/translator I believe. He was the national bowling coach at one time previously I think, too and works with the academy and development players as well.

I cannot comment on his coaching ability. I can only tell you what needs to happen, as it did when I came into that role.

Ian pont is really a excellent man.I dont know if any player can get a more friendly coach than Ian Pont.It is really a shame not getting Ian as a coach.

I am really amazed to see one of the leading bowling coaches answering and sharing his view with the fans.Hope he will be with us alltime.

Ian, great to see you in the forum-this question is for you. I am a Bangladeshi living in Sri Lanka. At a point Sri Lanka too had difficulty grooming many fast bowlers. Ramanayake was Sri Lanka's lone spearhead for a while. Then it was Vaas. Only in recent years they have been able to unearth quicks with much ease. We all know Malinga can do. Kulasekera is superb. There are quality backup bowlers to the NT such as Dilhara Fernando, Prasad, Welegedara, Thilan Thushara, Maharoof. Now you have emerging bowlers such as Lakmal, Thisira Perera etc. All of these bowlers are far superior to our ones. What are they doing right to allow them to produce so many quality seamers in comparison to Bangladesh? Sometimes they even play 3-4 quicks in subcontinental wickets where we wont dare to play more than 2 (Most of the time we have to bring in spinners within first 10 overs). Its not that they way significantly better facilities and coaching than us.

Look forward to your feedback.

I don't know about this. But I have another observation.

Our boys normally don't care deshi coaches. White skin is getting higher respect among general Bangladeshi. Whatever qualification Sarwar Imran has, is getting wasted with these boys.

Could have been said in a better way. Anyway, they are highly respected among us cause they have proper knowledge, good work ethics, sense of responsibility and good communication skills unlike our kinds.

What to say about Bangladesh cricket….? Well BD is a nation where nothing is good, so what can we expect from a nation like this? Politics in everywhere, to build up a good/strong cricket nation, we have to work so hard and play as a unit for the nation. All of our players don’t understand that what it means to represent a country. Let’s talk about batting, we don’t have any batsman yet, who can play long innings and inspire others to play good in the team, however, we been playing test cricket for 11 years. No opening good pairs, no middle orders and lower orders. Also we don’t have any pace bowler allrounder in the team when we have bunch of spinners’ allrounder. In bowling, we don’t have any strike bowler who can pick up wicket and get a break throw any time when it needed. All the bowler bowl short, no swings, no pace and etc. More to say, hope soon BD cricket get better in future. If I were the captain, I would have inspires all the players to play good and try to win every matches no matter who we are playing with. Therefore, as a small nation we want to do something in the world arena by playing cricket. Our goal is to win world cup in 2015. I would keep Tamim, Shakib, Mashraffe and Ashraful and another 7 need to find from all over the country to be in BD cricket 11.

Good Luck!! Hope soon you guys will play like a tiger consistently...inshallah!!
