Cricket in Bangladesh
Ok, first of all I'd like introduce myself... My name is Ameer, I'm 16, my father is Pakistani and my mother is American... I like cricket and I'm interested in seeing Bangladesh being a good and joining Pakistan in kicking some Indian butt... so got I a question... is cricket the most popular sport in Bangladesh? By most popular I mean what is the sport kids would be playing in school and stuff.

BTW, Ameer, Bangladeshis are equal opportunity butt-kickers. We don't discriminate between Pakistan and India when it comes to butt-kicking.

Why just India and Pakistan? I would say all the big teams, including Australia.
Ya I know we will have to wait but that day would surely come. :tiger:

welcome to banglacricket.com. cricket is the most popular sports in bangladesh. we have great passion for this sports, as far as butt kicking goes we gonna have to wait for that because we are struggling with top team. but inshallah we will start winning regularly. and when that day comes it doesnt matter if it is india or pakistan or australia we will try to win every matches. i know we are trying to win against everyone now but we need alot of improvement to do.

Yeah, that's what I meant. I think once Bangladesh gets a win against a good team then their confidence will go up and get more wins.

More like Wasim the match fixer kicked Pakistan. Pakistan had already won it's league matches by including Australia and then New Zealand. They were sure to be in Super Sixes already. It's so obvious it's not even funny. And don't tell me BD is gonna live off that victory for the next 20 years... even if it was a real victory.

Excuse, Excuse, Excuse!!!!
Why can't the fans take a defeat gracefully??
I agee with you to one point. And "its not funny anymore."
When will some people stop claiming all those lame excuses? Be a Man and take a defeat gracefully even its unexpected.
Oh! I forgot, you are a 16 years old kid! What more can I expect?

Alright then... BTW, is it true that when Bangladesh beat Pakistan, a national holiday was declared and schools were closed?

No that is not correct. There were celebrations on the street, but no national holiday or anything like that.

well that victory against pakistan was more then 5 years ago. you are right we need to stop talking about that victory. i have to agree that it was a fluke. maybe it was even fixed. we all know how greedy pakistani players are and it is proven that they were involved in fixing cricket games. i mean ameer i understand you are a pakistani fan but atleast when our players play they give all they got for their country. our players are still baby in the test stage but we are learning. i hope our players doesnt turn out to be crooks like pakistani players. our players doenst make excuses that they are injured. they bust their butt in the field. you never heard a bd player getting caught with weed in some beach like wasim akram and waqar younis did. no bd player got suspended for match fixing like saleem malik did. no bd player took himself out of the game bc of injury. it is a proven fact that pakistani players are greedy. bd is a poor country but we have passion for the game. so does our player. even if our batting fails every time i will never say that it is their lack of commitment. alot of people are talking a lot of crap about our cricket. i guess it wont stop until we start performing. so keep on talking ameer. bc i am confident we will kick pakistan's butt very soon that it wont be no fluke. just like we kick their butt out of our country in 1971.

man we didnt kick the pakistanis out of our country...that woulda been the indians job. everyone knows that if india's goal wasnt to divide pakistan...we would still be east pakistanis. at least our cricket would have been better however corrupt we might have been.

shaoun... you are being pretty hostile. Pakistani cricketers aren't match fixers anymore... that would have been Wasim Akram and Salim Malik. And who cares... you can call them crooks if you want... atleast they can win matches. WC '92 winners and WC '99 finalists... enough said. No offense intended btw. I think Bangladesh will become a pretty good team in 10-15 years... maybe even less. Just depends on their batting.
