Default The Most under achieved players in BD cricket

We had many cricketers who possessed immense talent and skill but never shine in the highest level. Several players who played for a while but didn't get the result according to their potential & merits. For me these are the list of players:

Ashraful
Al Shariar
Marshall Ayub
J Siddiqui
Rakibul
Anamul Sr.
Mushfiq (Poor average)
Kapali
Mominul (ODI)
Tamim ( Poor average)
Nanu
Riad
Zia
Nayeem Sr.

Nearly every player to have played. Tamim should have 15 100s to his name not 7.

Ashraful and shahadat, maybe kapali and aftab as well. most of the current crop can achieve more but are still playing so we have to wait and see first

I don't think we should say Mominul under achiever right now. I mean just 2 years have past. Still lot of time left to figure out.
Tamims ave of 30 is fine and right for opener like him. Our 'Attacking' openers strike rate of 79-81 is also enough for him.
But yes Mushi has been a major under achiever. We say he's our best bat but others feel shock when they see his so far poor career stats. Bcoz he was horrible in his early days. I remember Harsha was little disturbed when he realize Mushi have so less 50s comparing to his total matches back in WC match. Bcoz he thought Mushy had more 50s. Whatever in last 3 years he's avarage is in the 40s and strike rate 85+. Which is WORLDCLASS.

Ashraful,Kapali and may be Mehrab Hussein are major under achiever.

Others such as J Sidduqi or Rakibul were good but not extra ordinary.
Nayeem was over rated as hard hitter. Infact he was much slower. And for me Zia is a slogger or nothing.

I agree. He is in top of this list. His records don't justify his talent. I rate him as `the best left handed opener in the world atm`.

Best left handed batsman in the world(ATM)...that's little bit too much.
I reckon he's very good but not super great for Int.cricket.
David Warner even Dhawan is better than Tamim. Please don't misjudge me. I don't like Dhawan either.
Just see Tamims ave is 30. Which is OK for him. And strike rate of 79-80.
If he face 100 balls he will score 100 or 80s. But when Warner faces 100 balls he scores 115/120. That's the difference.
Look at Tamims 132 ball 132. Thats great but if Warner or Dhawan was there they would score minimum 150+.
Please there are batsmans averaging 40+ with strike rate of 85/90. And you are saying Tamim is the best.

And in Tests Dhawan is worse than Tamim but Aliestar Cook and Warner are there. So again NO for Tamim.

I Love all BD batsman. I don't like people under rating them too. But obviously Tamim is never the Best Left Handed batsman of current time.

Good thing you put the word "nearly".

Sharapova is an over achiever. People just hyped him up because of his looks and height.

Outside the field and inside the field talent is two different thing. Modeling, fingers through his lock and looking sideways, Bollywood aspiration and working towards that goal...he was born for it. Not for setting up batsmen for a wicket taking delivery to follow. The delivery "screaming" part he got it from his namesake.

Alok Kapali was one of the major underachievers. He had everything - the attacking batting and a decent legspin - the option Bangladesh still lacks. But he killed his career by one bad decision. The other one is Ashraful - what a waste.

Ashraful under achiever? how that can be possible?

Ashraful is no under-achiever... he is a game fixer.

Junaid Siddiqui now plays for Canada just so you know, seemed to have a big fall from grace as he was a regular in the 2011 WC for Ban IIRC

He did say he 'rates him' as the best left handed opener in the world. Not that he is the best left handed opener in the world. In other words, it was in his own view. I don't think he said anything bad. Everyone has their own fav, views on who they rate or not.

Most of our current players I believe are underachieving, they have the potential to be much better.

Most talented batsman born in Bangladesh:
1.Ash
2.Tamim
3. Mushy

Among them Ash is totally underachiever and I expect more from Tamim. Mushy is so far OK to his merit. Another name to this under achiever list is Kapali.

What has kapali done to be anywhere near national team? We can't put every Rahim, Karim in national team

Define talent. Why is ashraful so high in the list with such a mediocre record. Talent is not just the ability to play shots. Talent is your work ethic and everything included
