Default MAHARASHTRA's tour of bangladesh

i think its a good attempy by BCB tp host a ranji trophy team from India in bangladesh against Bangladesh A team.

i also wish the reverse, bangladesh A's tour to such ranji teams will happen in future.

according to prothom-alo this is the fixture.

starting with 3 T-20's against bangladesh national team: 17th,18th and 19th may, all SNBS, mirpur

then 3 ODIs aganst bangladesh A, 22nd, 23rd and 25th may, also all SNBS

finally two 4-day matches agaisnt bangladesh A :

28th-31st may at bogura
3rd-6th june at SNBS mirpur

i am not sure whether the BANGLADESH A team has yet been declared.

the national team selected for world cup will play in the 3 t20s

i wish good luck to both the national and A team

Well that provides some practice before the world cup I suppose - we should win all three pretty comfortably...then again it is twenty20 - little skill involved there, anyone can win.

is mortaza planning to come back for any of the maharashtra matches - it would be good practice for him even if he loses a bit of money

Won't be a bad idea. Better than spoiling ur valuable time in the bench...

Nice idea, excellent practice with lot of humiliation for our proud nation.
It happend in the past with West Bengal Cricket team.
BCB is getting innovative.

Rajin, Talha & Zia called up

Rajin Saleh and Talha Jubair have been called up to the Bangladesh A side for the one-day series against Maharashtra Cricket Association which begins at the Bir Shreshtha Shahid Matiur Rahman Stadium in Khulna today.
Paceman Ziaur Rahman will join the pair after Imrul Kayes, Nazmul Hossain and Mahbubul Alam Robin were ruled out due to various ailments. Batsman Kayes and pacer are yet to recover fully from jaundice while Robin has suffered a back injury during training yesterday.
Batsman Rajin had a fruitful National Cricket League of 2008-09, scoring 482 runs including a century but had a patchy time in the Premier League scoring only 181 from ten games playing for Surjo Tarun.
Talha also had a similar fate, taking 37 wickets in the first-class competition but played just a single Premier game this season for Abahani. Ziaur, on the other hand, has shown good form with the bat in fact, hitting that magical half-century in the PCL semifinal in Chittagong earlier this month.

Talha really never had serious pace. However he could really skid the ball. I think the highest he could master was around 130-135 range. Average would be around 125-128.

But I loved his bowling from the time he entered the international scene. He was young vibrant ,and before Mashrafee era, he was the only pacer that could cause some serious trouble. He was always better than Sharif...

i saw him hit 135 in his last test against india...after all his injuries. i think he was a guy who at top pace could reach 140. andy roberts reckoned he could hit 145 if he developed, which he obviously never did.

also a cousin of mine - who played with tapash, and other ex-national teamers/first class cricketers in BD - considered talha to be the fastest BD bowler he ever saw. according to my cousin, who played for middlesex 2nd XI a few years ago, talha was even faster than him, and he claimed to have hit 90 mph in england.

Wat an awful looking batting line up....Is this actually the best we got?

I would have selected Rony Talukder, Imtiaz , and Marshal Ayub from the current development squad...

not sure about imtiaz---he has not shown any sign of great player any where
marshall-------very inconsistent
rony----i think he is in australia or part of this team

in my opinion, this team is not bad. they are all experienced. Up t0 9 batting line. I will say bowling is not up to mark but batting is really strong.

I know it's been discussed before, but we really to try and scout for English players with Bangladeshi parentage whom we can get to play for us. Someone who's a county semi-regular would be not to shabby.

wasn't talha like 16/17 when he played for the national team? if he was bowling 135kph at that age he had must have had the potential to become a regular 140kph+ bowler.

he could.but why do u think he didn't get a called since? because injury ruined his life but last few season in domestic league he done pretty well.

well from what i've heard since injury he hasn't bowled as fast, whether it was the injury itself or poor management of the recovery i don't know but 135kph is impressive for a 16/17 year old.
