Default My challenge to selectors

I really hope this becomes the team for next test. I will bet anyone, if given the chance, they will do better than Dhaka test. But I am sure, the selectors must do something distructive, again.

Rokon
Golla
Sumon
Sanwar
Tushar/Ash/make any pick, even akram/nannu
Kapali
Sujon
Pilot
Monjur
Taposh
Talha

Default Not a bad side at all...

It's worth a shot. Seems pretty balanced in terms of youth and experience. The bowling seems a little weak, given that there are absolutely no specialist spinners. Do you really think Ash and Kapali could do the trick? Anyway, why not? It's not like things can get any worse.

Default Ash and Kapali

Still not sure why Kapali did not bowl a single over. Was that to verify Durjoy's spot in the team ?
If Ash and Kapali takes more wickets, doesn't that make players like Durjoy and Moni (age) obsolete?
Ash took 2 wickets to cancel out the two by moni and Durjoy. Grandted that those were lower order but still....

Oh no, here we go again..ECCHHHOEES !!

While I would probably have given up a lot to get Raj's selection playing in the 2nd test, I don't think there playing in the first test would have made the slightest difference !!!

6 of the players did play, and we've all agreed that Sujon is little good for tests - thats 7. And given the history, we know that one of the openers would have been back very early, anyway, so thats 8. So the only crime was not to have included Sanwar/Manju/ and either Rokon or Javed. 1 out of these 3 was a bowler. So, what difference would have 2 batsmen made, I ask you all ????

Pundit - you are right - only 2 batsman does not make any difference.

Tehsin, I agree with you too - Ashraful taking 2 wickets and Naimur and Enamul taking 1 wicket a piece. But I guess because Ashraful can't bowl as tight as the experienced Naimur and Enamul, so it was OK for the moment. But I want to include that Ashraful should bowl a lot more - because I think that a leg spinner may be born with the talents, but a good leg spinner must also bowl a lot to stay in the team.

Alok Kapali did not bowl a single over because of his finger injury - his finger was split while batting for 52 by Lawson.

I don't think the selectors or even the team management would not pick the final eleven outside the present test sqaud.

My favorable 11 man team would be - (I am assuming that it is also the most correct selection - according to my understandings)

1) Rokon
2) Hannan
3) Sumon
4) Sanwar / Bulbul
5) Ashraful
6) Kapali - if the physio thinks that Kapali needs some rest to recover from finger injury, then both Sanwar and Bulbul may play - no need to take a risk on Kapali for the coming world cup, especially after his recent good form with the bat
7) Pilot
8) Enamul / Rafique
9) Tapash
10) Monju
11) Talha - Ian Bishop said that Talha should not be selected for back to back test matches because of his age - but we don't really have any choice - do we? [REMEMBER MASHRAFI? - Mashrafe had to play 2 back to back test matches - and thus he was injured - so if Talha gets injured now after playing in the Chittagong test, then it will be only because of our limitation in bowling department].

The wicket of Chittagong stadium must be the same as the Dhaka wicket.

Default not that it will make a difference:

hannan
rokon/javed
ashraful
bashar
sanwar
kapali
pilot
moni
tapash
manju
talha

don't need sujon with 3 pacers. need one specialist spinner and moni was better than durjoy in the first test and only one who can bowl an entire day straight. i would like to see golla back but they may keep hannan as he scored most of the runs in the 2nd innings. looks like bulbul is done, sadly. kapali's finger - he needs to be out there even if he had one arm right now.
