Default 1st Test vs England Prediction Thread

I have a strange feeling that bd will do very well. Hence I am feeling bd might draw the 1st test.

If we play with (Test match like) intensity and show some application, then we may actually win the 1st Test.

NO chance of winning. Our bowling attack looks horrible. You cant win test matches with a bowling attack as toothless as ours.

We will take the test into 5th day

After evaluating (just the scorecard) the two practice matches...it looks like not all the English batsmen are not in form in a spinning track. If Miraz can turn the ball and have some variation, he will trouble the left handed batsmen.

If we can Bat first and score around 350 runs. Bowling needs to be tight. Fast Bowler can not lick runs. There is high likely chances we can get lead. And then play 2nd innings sensibly. Strategy should be to watch out Adil Rashid, Moeen Ali and Zafar Ansari and score against the pace bowlers. No need to take extra risk against the spinners. If we can somehow get around 300 runs lead, we have very good chance to win.

My XI would be

1. Tamim
2. Imrul
3. Mominul
4. Mahmudullah
5. Shakib
6. Mushfiq
7. Sabbir
8. Miraz
9.Taijul
10. Shafiul
11. Kamrul

Having so many spinners will give rest to Shakib and he can be dangerous against the right handed batsmen.

We may not do well but it is the high time for Tamim-Shakib-Mushfiq-Riad to look for a win. Also you can include Imrul in the mix.

Those players may not have much time to get the opportunity to win a test against a big team. May be another 3/4 years they will be in their prime before the actual decline starts.

If they really want to share some pride and call it a career in the most honorable format this is the beginning.

Nothing to predict. In the longest format of the game stronger team wins more often than not and unlike LOIs chances of upsets are rare. England is a pedigree team and even without Jimmy Anderson they are significantly ahead of BD in terms of quality. ODIs were your best chance but in 5 day cricket I don't foresee BD to win. They can max draw the game if the weather plays a part and few days washed out like that test match against India last year.

Most likely a significant loss, especially with the kind of bowling attack and captaincy we have in test matches. We may have few good session and decent partnership with the bat, but won't count to much as I don't see us getting more than 7-8 English wickets spread across 2 innings.

In future, once Mushy is dropped as captain,Shafiul and Hom replaced with players like Mustafizur, Taskin and Jubair, we may expect more competitive result, at least in home conditions.
