BREAKING NEWS: Shakib out of rest of West Indies ODIs
Quote:
Shakib Al Hasan's shin injury has ruled him out of the rest of the five-match ODI series against West Indies. The stress reaction on his right tibia that kept him out of the squad for the first two ODIs was reconfirmed by a second scan in Dhaka, and he has been given the next six weeks off to rest.

Get well soon....
Hope the team will move on, and it's good that the news is out early, so the team will not be in any hope of him and do their best in the series. Good that we won the first ODI, so the team will believe in themselves to do better.

This is a big loss. You may win 1 or 2 match without your key performer, but you won't be able to compete at the same level consistently over a period of time.
Hopefully he will be fully fit soon.

^^ BPL without Shakib won't be the same. Not sure how many overseas star players we can attract given the fiasco of last tournament but at least we need our superstar on the field.
This is our tournament and we need it to be successful for the sake of our own country's cricket.
Being said that, he should not hurry. We absolutely need him in SL and Zim.
Glad he is getting the rest ahead of a somewhat busy schedule next year.
Praying for his swift and complete recovery.
Time for the boys to carry the momentum they have generated and collectively fill the gap.
Time for them to show the world this team is not all about Shakib and they can actually play cricket too.

Big loss. Hopefully this will be a blessing in disguise as then we get to see Mominul bat. Hopefully by the end of the series we'll have a selection dilemma.

Can anyone fill me in regarding the SL series and when it's supposed to take place? Can't remember the last time we played a full series overseas against a G8 team.

Hope Shakib will recover by the time of 6 weeks. It is a bad news we loose him in current series.

Let him rest.
Bangladesh are finally learning to fight without relying on Sakib all the time.

Bangladesh will miss him a lot. Just because we won a match does not mean his services won't be missed in the next four. It's not going to be easy.

We rely too much on him and at times he has to carry the burden on his shoulders. Without him players know that the chances are slimmer in any competition but that could be a motivating factor for them to pull their weight and play better as a unit. Now they have to go that extra mile to get anything out of the series. They responded well in the first ODI. Time will tell whether they carry on with the same commitment. If they have the desire, I believe they do, then they will play better without him.

I hope he takes his time. He needs all the rest he can get. He has a really busy schedule ahead of him. BPL, BD SL Tour, IPL and more. What's going on with that surgery of his? Did he decide when he wants to do it?

Not surprised. It was on the news ffor the last few days. This is a great opportunity for Mominul. Hope he makes full use of it.

Get well soon Shakib. I'm still worried on how we perform in big chases without Shakib. His spin is also a big plus and we'll miss that. Mahmudullah has to pick up some of the slack with the ball in place of him and the middle order batsmen all have to contribute.

This is actually not too bad. It will prevent the team from being too reliant on one person.
