yeah watson has been a big waste of talent.

I just think he would have much better chances batting at six or seven as an all-rounder

i'd prefer someone like wade or andrew mcdonald at 6 ahead of watson. what watson needs is to go back and work on his problems, he can't keep going because he's not going to fix them, needs to know it's not ok and he isn't an auto choice and he has to perform or he's not in the squad.

Things starting to get even more interesting. So not only the umpire's decision can be overturned by the DRS, but also the DRS can be overturned by the umpire!! Now the system is in perfect harmony. The Yin to one's Yang.

steven smith and michael clarke are batting really well and working very hard to stay at the crease. the real australian team has finally arrived at the ashes.

The DRS actually gave the correct decision in this occasion. The problem was both the on field and third umpires accepting or rejecting it to their own liking. It is there to eliminate howlers, and it did one, only to be overturned in a 2nd howler by the 3rd umpire.
The problem is the ICC instead of admitting that there is some limitations to the technology and the laws implementing it and then working to solve those issues, is in denial.

Rogers has been really impressive so far. Clearly the best find for Australia in this series.

always liked steven smith, he just has that fighting quality, might not be the most talented but he gives it his all. plus he's got good talent with the ball and is terrific in the field.
rogers, he's expected to do well, averages over 50 in FC cricket, 20,000 FC runs to his name now and a lot of those runs were scored in england. a shame he couldn't get the ton, i really wanted him to.
glad clarke is back to scoring tons, and at #4 this is a break through for him.

On field umpire gave him out caught, he reviewed it, nothing was on hot spot, noise was clearly at a different time from when ball went past bat (it was when his bat hit his pad), also nothing on snicko as the ball passed the bat, there was also clearly a big chunk of air between ball and bat on replays.
3rd umpire kept the on field umpires decision as out. Will be interesting to see the explanation given for why it was out.

This whole DRS issue is forcing me to rethink about the BCCI stance. At the begining i thought they were just being a pain in the backside but now as it shows DRS really needs a lot of improvements both in terms of technology and personnel. BCCI was right to question it and i was wrong.

both smith and clarke miss out on milestones. despite getting 180 that was not a brilliant knock from clarke, looked horrible for most of his innings and the way he got out was one of the worst i've seen.

The Ashes shuru hote jache
Quote:
10.30am Hello everyone and welcome to the fourth day from Old Trafford. England need 34 more runs to avoid the follow-on, which is shaping as a vital period in the match with some poor weather forecast for later today and tomorrow. Whether that arrives only time will tell, but Australia can't afford to be held up. England's one aim is to get away from Manchester with a draw and the Ashes retained. For now the weather is fine and we'll be underway at 11am.

DRS will always have issues unless technology can be right 100%.
