What is wrong with Pakistani cricket?
I was just going through their team trying to find out why they lost the match. Some of the statistics really surprised me. Very surprising given that Pakistan is an established test side.
The whole Pakistani batting line up from the last match has only two batsmen who average above 35. Shocked? Just see their averages below:
Imran farhat averages 34. (and only 17 in Australia)
Salman Butt averages 29
Faisal Iqbal averages 26
Mohammad Yousuf averages 53 (Averages 34 in Australia)
Umar Akmal averages 55
Misbah averages 33 (In Australia 25)
Kamran Akmal averages 33 (In Australia only 14)
I find it difficult to understand what a Faisal Iqbal is doing at no3 with an average of 26 over 10 years? Can't they find a better no3? Butt averages 29 over 10 years. What is he doing in the team? What are all those batsmen (except Yousuf and Umar) doing in that lineup? Is that the best they can find? If that's genuinely the case, I am very worried about the future of Pakistani cricket. I am not at all surprised that this team lost that bad in the last match. They don't have a single batsman with any decent records in Australia.

Faisal is Javed Miandad's nephew and nepotism is apaprently a big reason for him lasting in the team so long.
Then again, they dont seem to have too many good batsmen coming through .

That's how they play. They are unique in that they either bomb the opponents or bomb themselves. These days, they do more of the latter.

younis khan, afridi and razzaq would make the team stronger imo. their top 3 isn't strong at all though. nasir jamshed has a pretty decent FC record, might be worth a shot and maybe imran nazir. i've heard they have a couple of players coming through the that should be decent so maybe in 5 years their batting will be stronger. pakistan have always been stronger with the ball though.

Playing at Australia is always a struggle. Look at the English Averages!!
Strauss 24.7
Cook 27.6
Flintoff 28.22
Trescothick 26.1
Bell 33
Only KP has 54.44.
+++
This is the weakest batting line up Pakistan ever had.

The averages I gave above is not their averages in Australia. These are their career averages. And the question I am raising is not "Why Pakistan always struggles in Australia" (which they do, but is a smaller concern for them now). The question is, why are they getting worse just generally?

hmmm!!! In prenthesis you put their averages in Australia which points to that they struggle at Australia. I just didn't post the career averages of the Englishmen. As I said they are not the only ones. It is difficult to play at Australia.
Now for them getting worse in general
1) Test break for a longer period,
2) Too much emphasis on T20,
3) Infighting,
4) Worthless board: who can't reap the benefit of such talented individuals
5) Coaching staff,
6) Leadership (lack of),
7) Seniority issue instead of performance.

I'll def agree with 2 but also the pitches they play on in pakistan are all flat batting tracks
