Marketing for Sakib
Yo'all should go to every Indian Cricket forum, and promote that Sakib's fielding is worth more than his minimum auction price. People have heard about his #1 odi rank, but they know little about his incredible fielding.

That probably doesn't help Shakib at all. It is the team management who will make buying decisions, those guys don't blog around in cricket forum. More over, it's not something you can prove by shouting around man.
People related with cricket has seen him what he is capable of & he is on the top of Ranking.
If he is capable, he will have to prove it on field what he is capable of. That's the only way.

lets not get to greedy. even though i think that Shakib's base price is preety low i am still happy with it and so should Shakib al hasan. u guys want him to get 500,000 dolloars. but what if he doesnt preform well on the field. then what wil happen. then IPL arent likely to pick him the next year. Let Shakib prove his true value on the matches. if he preforms like he did in the ODI's his price is going to be well over 600,000 the next year.

i dn't think sakib is that desperate that we need to go around n campaign for him..he should and he most likely will make it based on his performance on the field..and once he is picked he must prove to everybody that he truly is the number 1 allround in the world

If Sakib is as good as we all say he is, he shouldn't need marketing.

Let shakib start with a low price, he will earn his way to a higher price tag with on field performances. I am confident that Shakib will be a joy to watch during the IPL.

I think its better that he is starting off with a low price. That kina guarantees his place in one of the teams.

just to let all of you know, the auction price is actually set by negotiations between the player and BCCI. So infact all our Bangladeshis made the final say on their respective auction prices. That is the minimum salary they are ready to accept for a contract. Hope that makes sense.

** In sports, a 1st round draft choice gets more chances to prove himself than a 2nd round draft pick. The higher the initial salary, the higher the probability of not getting substituted for early bad plays. Lets hope Sakib gets as much benefit of doubt as possible.
Chauncy Billups, an all star and an NBA final MVP, was drafted in the 1st round lottery, but he bounced around 4 or 5 teams before he found his niche. If he was a 2nd round pick, he would have been toiling in the bench most of his early career and probably wouldn't have made it in the NBA. Most 2nd round draft picks get a very short time to prove themselves.
** Marketing is an essential part of sports. Even superstars market themselves. You can check how college stars market themselves before the NBA & NFL drafts.
** Creating buzz in the ground level can help or hurt players on draft days. Many players' stocks have made dramatic rise/fall on the draft days in NBA/NFL because the ground level buzz went upward.
** Obviously, his play will determine his future. Nobody doubts that. If Sakib gets in a higher floor, he will get more chances. He surely became hot at the right time.

Marketing is everything in US. Deshi manush shob'i deri'tey bhujey. Even Indians understood that and kicked England out of the high and mighty seat.

This is a blessing in disguise for Sakib, someone could have taken him for just 50K for a 2 year contract.
Instead, next year, provided he keeps up his current form, he will be base priced at 1 million and end up being sold around 1.2 million making him the most valuable player of IPL.
