Scotland beats Canada.... so sad.

The Canadians made 189 for 8 in their 50 overs with John Blain and Paul Hoffmann both taking two wickets each.Sunil Dhaniram was run out on 37 and Pubudu Dassanayake was 36 not out as Canada rallied from 38 for 4 to set a reasonable target. But Scotland chased it down with Watss on 81 and Smith on 86 both not out.

In other matches....

Namibia scored 252 all out from 49.4 overs, while Papua New Guinea only made 154 all out from 44.3 overs.

Oman were skittled out for a miserable 67 after Holland had knocked up a mighty 325-4.

First upset of the cup- Bermuda has beaten UAE by 30 runs!!!

Bermuda seems to a solid team under Gus Logie's coaching. It is pretty safe to say they are coming to play WC'O7. This win is also very significant as they are now getting into elite 6 associate countries who are entitled to play ODI's for next four years and who will get lots financial and administrative help from ICC.

I won't right UAE off yet, but now they have to fight with strong teams like Namibia and Holland/Canada for the last 5th spot.

Well, I guess nobody is going make fun of James next time he predicts an upset. Anyway, I am not that surprised that USA lost to Uganda. Uganda is making steady progress, recently they have beaten Namibia in a three day match. On the other hand, USA came to this tournament with very poor preparation and with an ageing side.

I was more surprised to see Oman giving Canada hard time to reach a score less than two hundreds. Sandip Patil is indeed doing a good job with this team.

Also, Gus Logie's Bermuda seems to have made it into WC'07, sucks to be UAE.

By the way, Ireland's nata batsman Ed Joyce looks like a real deal.

PNG seems to be the worst team of the tournament, no one should have any problem beating them.

I hope Canada can also beat Netherlands.. cause then if we beat PNG which we should we will be in the next WC... yeah...

It will be interesting to see the Oman vs PNG match. Oman played well against Canada but they are prone to collapsing as demonstrated in their other matches.... but i agree Oman will still win against PNG....

I thought Bermuda, who are doing great this tournament, is part of Central America. Anyhow, the way things are going for West Indies, I think the team will soon break up into islands countries and we will see fierce competition from more Caribbean teams in associate level.

And the reason for Canada's emergence ? A large number of South Asian immigrants, with John Davison, the BC-born-Australian-grown man, leading the charge! Gosh, anything and everything about Canada has to relate back to its multiculturalism! The tapestry of this country is ever-expandable!

Canada is basically the face of all international cricket. There is a player from every test country in Canada..... If only Canada could win a bit more.

Are you interested in the ICC trophy results?

I am interested to see their progress, since we are scheduled to play at least one ICC Associate team in the world cup 2007.

Meanwhile, here are some of the interesting stats of our own history at the ICC trophies throughout the 18 years of Bangladesh cricket before gaining test status from the past:

We won 26 matches out of 41 matches and lost only 14 matches in all the ICC trophies

Refreshing, isn't it? While we played over 100 ODIs since 1986 upto the recent Natwest Series 2005, but from 1979 upto 1997, we only played 41 matches at the ICC trophy level - it was an interesting stat for me.

We never crossed the 300 mark in all ICC trophy matches - yet another interesting stat - in the first match of the current iCC trophy, even Ireland could manage to score over 300 runs (not to mention that kenya has crossed the 300 barrier a few times); and yet we have just not managed to do that, yet as a team.

Only 3 Bangladeshis have scored hundreds in all ICC trophy matches - is that an example of our poor domestic infrastructure? Or something else?

I've noticed that Fahmida posts 85% of her posts in Bangladesh Cricket. Perhaps it's bookmarked and she doesn't know the other forums exist.

Canada are struggling this tournament. Davison and Billcliff have got them over the line twice now (an Aussie and a sheep shagger). Ireland and Scotland will certainly qualify from Pool B.

Would you look at that! Uganda beat the USA but I didn't get the Denmark tip right. I'm considering whether I should tip them tonight or not because i think Fredrik Klokker is unavailable. However I have to support my Danish heritage and tip them to pip the Arabs in a close one.

FW, tweenty some years ago our team used to get tripped by teams like PNG or Malaysia, now our U/19 squad is more than good enough to take care of those sides. The standard of cricket in Bangladesh has evolved a lot, so don't worry about our records in ICC trophy.

bermuda will surely improve.there is a strong prescence of cricket there.i feel icc shud try to bring in china .it shud forget usa and concentrate on china.
