Default Why don't we try Ashraful as an opener

I mean we have nothing to lose. Scores of 150 and less won't cut it in Test cricket or any kind of cricket. We should put Ash in as an opener in the second innings of this Test or in the next Test series in NewZealand. I believe Ash used to be an opener so he would have the experience. One of the things you need in Test cricket is a steady opening partnership and we have not had that in this series. I hate seeing Ash coming up to bat when our team is already losing. Now he can control the match. Imagine if he could score 130 as an opener. If you get 130 from an opener, you have a good chance of scoring 250 or more because then you would only need 120 or more from the 9 other batsmen.

Ash don't like to bat up the order. If someone is not easy in a position, you should not force him to play there.

Oh no not again. Kiddo, this has been discussed a lot of times. If you search around then you will figure out why we should not try Ashraful as an opener. He is settled at number 5-6, so let him be there.

He cannot be settled at no.5 if he just got out at 26 runs which is horrendous for his ability.I always thought he should play at 4 and still do. He never looked to me as an opening batsman. I wonder if Mushy is better suited to play as an opener because he does look like a very accomplished batsman.

He should bat at No3 if he's the best batsman. The best batsmen of any team generally bat at 3 (Ponting, Kallis, Viv Richards, etc) unless they can't play the moving ball, in which case they probably bat at 4 or 5. Opening the innings is a specialist position.

Yes, but unfortunately most of the time no3 batsman of bd arrives the crease within 15 minutes after the ball start rolling. So....

We should deriously try Mushy as our ODI opener. That will help FOrhad play as an allrounder.

Let him score some runs first from where he is playing right now and gain some respect from the opponent and repair his batting average. beacuse they are the true evaluators rather than blind fans like us...

His avg had slighly moved up. Close to 26 now. Who knows, few more not outs ( since playing at 5 or 6 and not much tail resistance these days ) and he will reach 30 !

i think, we need few more ashrafuls because every team got atleast 4-5 good batsmen where our all hopes centered with ashraful. if he plays well in the test...we can draw the match. we just need more than one ashraful.

I know what you mean. Few more Ash will give us few more runs that's for sure. But for us to get out of Innings defeat cycle, we need 11 super-charged steriod induced Ash. Beacuse regular 11 Ash will give us only 260 runs each innings on average.

Come-on guys.. leave him alone.. He's doing a good job where he's now.. He used to be open the innings in ODI's but couldnt do better... He's not a opener.. Hes a middle order batsman.. Let him repair his batting average first. Don't try to put more pressure on him as he's already having a lot. He's being more responsible than he ever been in his entire career..

uff!!! no!!! no way!!! never!!!! not in a miilion years!!! let him stay where he wants to. If he gets forced to be opener and hes not comfortable with the new ball, we dont want our captain to go out on ducks every game.

why don't we try Mushi as the opener or at #3...I'm sick and tired of watching Gullu, Bashar and Rajin giving it away and then our best batsmen having to fight a lost battle every game!

Maybe you should actually watch ashraful as an opener. He is very uncomfortable at that position.
